I know the old saying, a dog isn't just for Christmas, and I can assure you that any dog that joins our family (of two) would get plenty of TLC. Me and my girlfriend have just bought a place in London with a large 80 ft garden. My girlfriend has wanted a miniature short haired daschund since the year dot, so if anyone's expecting a litter around crimbo if they could give me a shout. This is something we have talked about for a couple of years, so please feel assured that it's not been a quick decision. I've just caved into the pressure... i wanted one too anyway

Please look at some of the other posts on here about why it will be difficult (impossible) to find a decent breeder who will sell you a pup at xmas.

You could still give your girlfriend a puppy for xmas but in a better way:   Find a lovely card and write a promise to buy her a dog, give her that at xmas. Then you can both take your time to find a great breeder and choose the pup together once xmas is out of the way.

Agree fully and your best start in yoru search is to contact the breed clubs who will be able to put you in touch with a reputable breeder.  Even if you fidn and advert for a litter check teh breeders reputatiuon or lack of with these clubs as they will know who the cowboys are, as well as the good ones.
