Long coats are or should not be deliberately produced, and most good breeders would avoid producing them by avoiding sires that produce them if the trait has appeared in their lines.

So you will need to check with litters already on the ground so to speak, by contacting the breed clubs for details of good breeders and asking if they have had any.

give the akita association a ring you can get their number on the akita page under clubs. You still want to ensure your puppys parents have all the relevant health checks, eye checks, hip scores etc. your puppy should be endorsed as you should not bred from a long coat. All that said they make beautiful companions!
