I am looking for a Blue (Grey) long coated Chihuahua of any sex (Pref Male). I'm a Psychoanalyst in training and a PhD student here in London. I spend a lot of time working from home and intend to continue my work from home over the next few years. I have several means of income and have been looking into getting a chi for a few years, but was waiting for the right time. The time has come :-) I have a great deal of experience with dogs of all sizes and breeds having been raised on a farm in the US. I also have some friends with Chis and I have absolutely fallen in love with the breed. If you have any dogs that fit the description or believe that you may produce such a puppy in the future please contact me via email. Pictures are welcome and once I have spoken to you about your dog and any special needs that are required we will negotiate payment.

**Please be aware I will not post, wire, or paypal a deposit until I have been to see the dog (and if pedigree at least one of the parents)**

Thanks for your time and I hope some one out there has what I'm looking for :-)

Best Wishes,

Jenn

No good breeder would accept any sort of deposit without first checking you out Jenn!

Good breeders put lots of time, effort, care and love into any litters that they have - and are extremely cautious as to the homes they go to!

However if you use the guided search on Champdogs you will find long-haired chihuahua breeders listed there.   You will also get a list of accredited chi breeders from the Kennel Club.

Good luck - I wish you success in your search.

Regards

Good luck with your search, try champdogs and the breed clubs to find a reputable breeder. They will want to meet you personally first to see if you are suitable to own one of their puppies. Be prepared to answer lots of questions ( Be vetted by the breeder). Personally I have never heard of a breeder accepting paypal as a deposit, and without being rude may I point out that breeders have set prices for their puppies and it would be most insulting to  try to negotiate a price with them.

This is a much smaller country than the US, Jenn, and only puppy farmers (puppy millers in US) would agree to sell you a puppy without meeting you first to see if they think you'd be a suitable owner. And the price is highly unlikely to be 'negotiable'.

And a lot of breeders will not accept any deposit at all, so that they and/or the potential buyer can change their mind at any time -always the safest bet for the puppy's sake.

I've stated the obvious because I have been looking a while and you do come across quite a few who would waste your time with trying to get you to pay for a dog you have not seen. Small country or not. Thanks for your input. I would appreciate only comments from breeders and not a discussion about proper breeder policy. I am quite aware of it and am only looking to speak with breeders who have the dog I'm looking for so that I could arrange a meeting etc. Thanks for your input though.

I suggest you contact the breed clubs listed at the bottom of the Breed Standard and ask for details of reputable breeders.

It is usual for prospective owners to approach breeders and not the other way around. Also it is against the Terms of Service for breeders  to reply to you directly on the Forum.  Contact the breed clubs listed at the bottom ofthis page They should be able to put you in touch with breeders that may have what you are looking for.

People are giving you good advice as to where to locate a puppy, which is what this site is about, guiding people in the right direction and giving advice along the way. you have obviously found some less than suitable breeders, hense the post, and hense the informed replies. To find what you are looking for may well mean you have to be seen and approved, then go on a waiting list for their next litter, or one soon due, or one that is here now. So, going to the breed clubs is excellent advice, and will help you avoid the pitfalls you may well have encountered already. It is usual for the potential owner to seek out a puppy, rather than the breeder seek out the potential new owner, so whilst you may prefere a breeder to contact you I would say you would have more luck by finding a breeder yourself. Good Luck in your search :-)

Strongly agree, usually the kind that would contact you is the kind you are trying to avoid.
