Hi, looking for a red merle working beardie dog. My old boy died back in July, and my 11yr old bitch has retired from agility. I'm looking for a pup or young dog to train and compete in agility and flyball. Can anyone help.

You can always try asking the working sheepdog people. I have seen working bred bearded collies featured in their magazine. Contact details are:- Tel/Fax

I thought beardies only came in solid colours with white???

Colour
Slate grey, reddish-fawn, black, blue, all shades of grey, brown and sandy with or without white markings. When white occurs it appears on foreface, as a blaze on skull, on tip of tail, on chest, legs and feet and, if round the collar, roots of white hair should not extend behind shoulder. White should not appear above hocks on outside of hindlegs. Slight tan markings are acceptable on eyebrows, inside ears, on cheeks, under root of tail and on legs where white joins main colour.

That's show Beardies Barbara. The only reasons there are no accepted merles in the show Beasrdies is that Mrs Willison didn't like them. I have a friend who was her kennel maid many many years ago & that is what she told her
