................has it changed recently confused I've never noticed the "Breeders" section on the top of the page before (next to Forum and help above)

Also, I'd saved in "my Favourites" the Champdog page relevent to my breed for quick reference, now when I click on it, it takes me to the Champdogs home page where I have to select my way through the options before getting to see what I wanted confused ...........anybody else noticed this?

Yep I noticed it a few days ago.  It is helpful as I ahve never foudn my way easily aroudn the main site, but it might be my settings that make it worse as they are large for disability options in windows.

I would be interested to hear from those of you that use the main site, both members and non-members. Which of the new bits you do and don't like and are there any other improvements you would like to see.

It would be nice to be able to delete old show results in that section. I have ended up with far too many and have not put new ones up at all.

The navigation with the words overlappign don't work for me as I have different settings to the normal and I can't get to click in the right places or see all the options.

You now have the option to archive any old show results.

When giving links to the breeders page, or breed clubs page, or whatever, it's a real pain not being able to copy-and-paste the page addy; on my computer the full addy's at the bottom and when you try to move the cursor to it, it vanishes. Only the champdogs.co.uk bit at the can be copied, not the details. Being able to copy the lot would be much easier - and more accurate!

JG, hover as if you are going to click on a page, breeder, litter etc. but right click on it instead and you will be able to copy the full link to paste.

Does that make sense?

I have a  query/suggestion here. Often here on the forum we point out to people that it isn't a good idea to print pedigrees on your website, of your dogs, as it does happen that unscrupulous puppy farmers and the like steal pedigrees off the internet to fabricate pedigrees for their puppies that sound and look real. For that reaosn I do not have my dogs' pedigrees on my personal website. However when I uploaded details of my dogs for my ChampDogs site, I didn't find a way of leaving the pedigree blank or just inputting only the parents. Would this perhaps be worth considering? I'd prefer it if their entire pedigrees weren't on view.

I wasn't aware that there was no choice confused I put my pedigrees on manually( typed them in) so I put in as much or as litle info as I required...........can you go back and edit it?

It is not possible to leave a pedigree completely blank but you do not have to upload a full pedigree unless you wish to do so. Most breeders wish to add full pedigree details and consider the risks of doing so minimal :-)

We actually get complaints about breeders not supplying full details on their pedgrees. Normally from breeders whom are looking for stud dogs and find it most frustrating that they can not view a full pedigree on some breeders sites - at a glance. Obviously, those breeders are likely to lose custom if the customer can find what they are looking for on another account containing full details. In the initial stages of pedigree searching, customers are less likely to bother contacting a breeder to ask, when they can find the full information elsewhere.

The other complaints come from customers wishing to purchase a puppy and are supplied with sire and dam names only. The bottom line is that anyone who is intent on fabricating litter information, will do so and the positives outway the negatives. Most of you know your own breeds and know when a pedigree is not correct. We get complaints about that too. If anything supplying full pedigree details is more likely to highlight fraudsters, than not to.

However, you do not have to supply a full pedigree. Obviously, you have to supply sire and dam at least. From our point of view, blank pedigree's mean nothing. We have no way of checking if the dog/litter is whom the breeder claims it to be. You do not have to upload entire pedigrees to your accounts. You do need to add the parents and I think this is basic requirement :-)

I agree when I am looking at websites for my breed it is the pedigrees as well as photos of dogs I wish to see.  I also use it as a tool to assess the kind of breeding being shown, back yard puppy producers don't give any details of pedigree or health tests, and usually only pictures of pups.

Some countries like Finland have a completely open pedigree database,a nd I can look up as many generations as I want, I can see how many bitches a dog has been used on what the results of his and other health tests are for the animal it's progeny, parents siblings etc.

So if someone chooses to use this info in false pedigrees with organisations that purport to provide registration so what they are obviously fake, and they cannot get a KC registration, or export them and get onto any other registry other than puppy farm ones.

" back yard puppy producers don't give any details of pedigree or health tests, and usually only pictures of pups"

Exactly. Another reason why we insist on more information being provided. It works :-)

I think my first thought if someone failed to post their pedigree is what are they trying to hide??Just trying to point out what people viewing sites/webpages may be thinking.

It had never occurred to me that people would steal pedigrees off the Internet to fabricate them. eek But surely there are other ways of fabricating a convincing pedigree? I say this because if I was looking for a puppy (some years yet) I would be interested in the pedigrees first and foremost to research lines, so I like to see them there. :-)

Yep and there would be no way you could fabricate one once you got to buy the genuine article  a KC reg pup from an established breeder or newbie being mentored by such.  Contacting any breed club would avoid this too.  The only people going to be taken in by a concocted pedigree are those where it is just a list of names anyway, so hardly even worth concocting from real ones.

I'd like to see old puppy for sale listing removed sometimes they are on there for months. I do understand that pups sometimes don't sell straight away but it just seems some are around for ages.

All litters have a set period of activity, then the system will mark them as All Sold, should the breeder 'forget'. All litters remain on the database for future reference though.
