Hi,
I am new to the site, having just registered this AM and hope i am putting this on the correct "board".
I am considering purchasing a bulldog puppy in the very near future. I have never owned a bulldog in the past but have always admired these handsome dogs who appear so full of character!
My last dog was a male boxer that i enjoyed the company of for 11 years. This fantastic dog died approx. 14 years ago and up until now i have managed to avoid the temptation of buying another.
Now however i am coming under immense pressure from my partner, not to mention our children, to buy a dog as a family pet. Both my partner and our children have decided that its a bulldog for us!
I have no specific intention of showing a dog therefore bloodlines would not be of great importance to me, only in respect of ensuring that i had a good, healthy animal.
I am looking for a bulldog breeder / owner in my area who could perhaps give me some help and advice in purchasing a puppy and perhaps enable me to see first hand a bulldog in its home environment. We live in Widnes, Cheshire and look forward to hearing from an experienced owner / breeder that can give us some advice.
Kind Regards,
Mike

Your best point of contact would be one of the bulldog breed clubs.

Sadly the breed is fashionable and there are quite a lot of people producing poor quality pups purely commercially as they command a high price.  Sadly good breeders have to charge the going rate to or risk their pups being resold if they were to ask a more reasonable sum, though the best breeders are unlikely to be charging the most exorbitant prices for puppies.

I would advise asking the club secretary of details of a member near you where you could meet the dogs in a home environment and then possibly go on a good breeders puppy list.

Here is the Bulldog breed council website: http://www.bulldogbreedcouncil.co.uk/

Please be careful where you buy your pup from.
If I can help give me a shout.
I know of several litter from well bred dogs with caring breeders.

Bloodlines may not be of importance to you but it does matter to the pup,you want a healthy pup
Go see breeders and ask questions, and expect to be asked loads of questions back.

If you press on my name then send me a private message (PM) I will help you find a well bred healthy pup.

You would be welcome here to be bullified lol

Hi,
Thanks for your email.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.I have emailed the Bulldog breed council asking for their help in locating local breeders etc. but have not had a reply as yet.
I did manage to locate a breeder in Blackpool who has a litter ready for leaving the kennels later this month but he explained that he had received numerous calls from would-be buyers and that demand would far outweigh supply!
Regards,
Mike Caine

There is a breeder in the Wigan area. I don't know his name but I have spoken to him at shows and was very impressed on his thoughts about his dogs, breeding etc. I have heard that he has really good dogs and I can only say that I was impressed by the man himself.
The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue.
