My 5 year old rotti has suddenly developed one bald patch. About 4 cms in length by 1 cm deep on her side. There is a pinky coloured rash on the skin around the bald patch. She is starting to bite it a little, but will leave it when told.
Anyone got any ideas?????????????

Ringworm?

Sounds like it, easy to get rid of but easy for you to catch. It's a fungus and is treated with the same sort of ointment that thrush is. Don't allow him contact with other dogs or children if pos. But in case it isn't have a vet take a look asap. Jackie H

It sounds like ringworm and if it is then it is very infectious to other animals and humans - no training classes etc till vet approves!

Thanks for your replies.

The vet kindly saw us after surgery tonight and it is NOT ringworm. Thank goodness.

Tiegan now has antibiotics as the vet thinks she has a contact allergy. He feels that it is itchy and that is why she has a bald patch only in that area because that is where her mouth falls when she turns around to stratch. The rest of her skin also has a rash, so we will try the antibiotics and return to the vets in a week.

Glad you have found out what is wrong, but don't worry about ringworm it is easy to deal with, probably the easist skin problem to deal with. Jackie H
