Hi, I haven't posted on here for ages, mainly due to ALL my time being taken up by my lab pup, Dylan Anyway, Dylan is due for his second flea and worm treatment since I have had him. The first time I got the products (Frontline pipette and 3 sachets of wormer of which I have forgotten the name!!!) from the vet. However, I don't want to keep going to the vets every month for these products so I looked on canine chemist. Oh my God did I get confused on there!!!! I looked at the Frontline and Panacur but there are so many differnt formulas and variations . I would really appreciate some advice as to what I should be ordering for a 16-weeks-old-today lab puppy. (who, incidentally couldn't care less what you put in his food :D :D ). I think you have discovered what you are paying your vet for - qualified advise :D
Seriously though you will need a prescription from your vet for the frontline so you may as well speak to them about what exactly you need.

Thanks for taking the time to reply isabel I should have realised it wasn't so simple - but you learn by asking!!! Will speak to vet and see what he has to say.

I use Frontline and Strongid wormer paste for dogs as a rule . I dont like Panacur personally, though it depends what worms are in your area as Panacur does worm for other worms besides roundworms. There is also a product called Stronghold ( a drop on, each month) that does fleas, roundworms and mites all in one treatment, which I use on puppies over 6 weeks up to 12 months or so. I know its a bit naughty, but my regular vet's medicines are much more expensive than another vet nearby, so I buy stuff over the counter from the cheap vet and take them there for minor ailments/vaccs. But if I have something complicated I take the dog to the more expensive, better equipped, more experienced vet. At "the expensive vet" the Stronghold is nearly £9 each , at the other £11.50 for 3!!! So you cant really blame me!! I know that I shouldn't but when you have several dogs the extra cost of buying everything from my "best"vet would be astronomical. My concience is more or less clear because I recommend him to everyone and he has gained many clients because of me!
