There is a website where breeders can advertise pups for sale/litters due. I know both KC reg and non KC reg pups are advertised on this site. As far as I am aware it was set up by people in your position who wanted a puppy but struggled to find one. They also seem to be very against puppy farms and actively encourage buyers to report anything unusual or things they are not happy with when viewing puppies.

Perharps people have had bad experiences using such sites but it could certainly be a starting point for you as it is the breeders that are advertising and usually both parents can be seen. It would certainly be a better route than getting a puppy from a pet shop selling them!

unfprtunatly that site is mainly back yard breeders and very VERY FEW good breeders advertise on there.
If you can see both parents I would be very dubious about the health testing and quality of the pups.Good luck :-) :-)
Look at breeders at the top of the page and that will give you CD breeders.
I am sure someone will be along soon to let you know the breed club numbers which I would try first and formost :-) :-)
Good luck

I PM'd the same reservations.  If a breeder has a website they showcase their dogs, not just advertise litter for sale.  We know nothing about this breeder from that, but the name of the website rings warning bells.  I would be checking the breeders reputation with the breed clubs.

Have you  looked on the breeders pages on this site? If you click on the Breeders link at the top of the page and then go to the toy group section and from there click on the link for pugs and then on to breeders of pugs you will find a list of breeders.

You may of course have already done that but thought it was worth a mention :-)
I came into this world with nothing & with careful management I've managed to keep nearly all of it

No disrespect to CDs or yourself Lea but the breeders list on here and some of the other sites have to be viewed with caution also,

I have seen some very suspect people on most of the sites recently.  Each breeder should be vetted and references checked with their respective breed clubs.  You'll be lucky if 15% of the breeders on some of the lists are breed club members.

They don't care about puppy farms...... I and several other people have contacted them on several occasions about some well known puppy farmers and they don't even have the decency to reply to the e-mails. As long as they get money from promotion they are happy.....

I contacted that particular site about some concerns that I had - they didn't respond to me either, and the ads stayed on their site.

The very best bet for buying any pedigree puppy is to contact the breed club for a recommendation of a good breeder.
http://www.pugdogclub.org.uk/start.html This link takes you to the Pug Dog Club's website. They do keep a puppy register.

If you pm me privately I can recommend a good breeder to you.  I have had Pugs from her and she is very knowledgeable about the breed and is a well known exhibitor and club member

Thanks

its not a website selling puppys for gods sake.......there a couple who "showcase" their breed on the internet and they have a link about planned litters, noone else on here do that then....oh yea they do !!

i thought it would be best to put web address rather than their home telephone number dont you think ?!?!
the more i see of men....the more i love my dogs

There is just the one page detailing a litter, the dogs are not showcased at all.  Breeding plans may be mentioned by breeders on their websites but the site will mainly focus on the dogs themselves their health, show results and pedigrees.

They will also discuss breed traits or have links to more breed information breed clubs etc.  A website that simply said puppies available I would treat with distrust, most web hosts would view that as a purely commercial site, and not allow it, unless paid for on a commercial basis.

Have a look at a few sites on peoples profiles for comparison.
