We are using a new layout for the Idle Chat forum.
Your comments would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mark

oooooooooh

- how'd you do that then? Looks like it might make it easier to follow (but might freak me out  I'm averse to change)
So, Mark, will replies to each post just go in time / date order or all under the poster being replied to ......
methinks I have to give it more time, right :P Teri, totally confuddled :D
'Judge a man by his questions rather than by his answers' (Voltaire)

Much easier on the eye

I'm sure not identing the replies will make it much easier with a long thread, I hate it when you get to the stage that replies are only a couple of centimetres wide and way over the right hand side :D
I'm with Teri though in wondering where the replies will go, if they still go under the post you're replying too that's great - but if they go at the end it could get a bit confusing. Mind you having said that that's the way most other forums work - and they do work.
So in conclusion...I really don't mind either way

The replies will go at the end. It will work the way most other forums do, if I don't get many objections I will alter all the forums to this new style.

Now you see, I actually much prefer the layout of CD to any other forums I've visited - so I prefer the original layout TBH

OK, I agree it can get a tad messy when a thread goes on too long (is there another way round that perhaps?) but that aside I find it easier to follow on the majority of threads and better also to see who is actually replying to who

So I'd vote to keep the status quo (who?) no, status quo :D

How will we know which post is being replied to? At the moment the stagger tells us (although it's iritating when it gets extremely squished on the right hand side).

Jeangenie if you wish to reply to a specific post you just need to make a reference to the post in question.
I have amended the Feedback Forum as well as a trial and have added a poll to this thread.
I think you will find that the flat format will keep more threads on topic. I would also expect less confrontations as you tend to reply to the thread as a whole rather than to a specific poster.
>if you wish to reply to a specific post you just need to make a reference to the post in question
Like doing a quote? Yes, that'd work - as long as people remember who said what! :D

I managed to vote once on a poll, and I was the only one that voted - I then came up with the idea that you had to post first then vote - lets try it :D

Yep, that's the way to do it :D (you can't tell but that is really a smug grin) :D

Lea, JG let me into the quotes secret.. and now I'm going to blab to everybody :D You simply type > at the beginning

ahah...you mean I shouldn't have given the secret to voting away on an open forum...I should have pm'd it to the people who I thought would vote the same as me?

The trouble is I don't really mind either way

In general I'm all for us Scots sticking together though so did vote for the indented ones :D

(To no-one in particular)

I get the same error Melly so it doesn't like me either.
I confess to being an old stick myself and a tad muddy at that. I like the indents though a limit on how far the go to the right would be nice.
