Please can anyone give advise on silent seasons- my friends bitch has had normal seasons until this one (the one she has made careful plans to mate her-typical) and she`s having a silent season- no blood, puffy `bits` and her own boy going mad!!!!!:-(.Can she still become pregnant? Keeping her seperate incase- has anyone mated their bitch on a silent season with any success?Look forward to any information.Gail:D

Definately can, one of my bitch's had a normal season, mated, but didn't fall on , 3 months later she had a silent season, first we knew of it was when they had tied. 9 weeks later 6 puppies, so yes definately watch out!!!

I have silver mins and my bitches always had "silent seasons", but were mated and produced lovely litters. At first I had the blood test done to make sure the bitch was ovulating, but on subsequent seasons I "read" the bitch, with a little help from a friend's experienced stud dog, who when she saw him flirted outrageously, and he of course knew when she was ready. Its a question of reading your bitch, and keeping a close eye on her.
By the way, I had 2 litters out of each bitch, only one mating each time, and they produced litters of 2 lots of 6 and 2 lots of 5.
