We are looking at what we are feeding and we would like to eventually move to then same food for our dogs. Our eldest boy is on science plan natures best but to be honest has never really enjoyed this food. Our new baby is on burgess supadog puppy as this is what the breeder gave him and he wolfs it down!

I know that our eldest is on adult and our youngest is on puppy food but obviously this will change as he gets older. I am keen not to change the youngests food until he moves to an adult variety but would like something different for our eldest. We aren't able to order anything online due to our location (channel islands) so something we can get from a normal pet staore would be great. we are thinking of something with lamb as he does tend to be sick alot (no problem just sensitive tummy) and he also has very very dry skin so anything that could help with that would be great.

We don't want to feed raw.

Supadog do a sensitive range, Mine didnt care much for it and their poos were all crumbly to pick up but they did well on the supadog active.. I add corn oil in their food regardless and they've never had a bad coat..

I've used it, tends to be tasty for the not TOO fussy, IME needs larger portions fed or likely to cause a drop in weight.

Thanks for the link Teri. Our boy regularly misses meals as he isn't overly keen on his food but he seems to love the smell of our new babies food (though again this could be novalty!)

Our eldest is quite a slender cavvy not skinny probably an ideal weight (and we intend to keep it that way ) so I don't want anything that would cause him to lose weight, perhaps I will buy a small bag and give it a go.

Some puppy foods can be a little higher in fats than adult and you'll know as they can be greasy to the touch mine would go bonkers for a bit of puppy food

I've just changed the Staffies onto this one (though am using the game, salmon and rice one) and they seem to be doing very well on it.

My Border Collie boy was always having the squits, and Burgess Supadog Sensitive has been fantastic for him.  I know some on here don't like it, but if it's a case of a dog doing well on it, then go for it.  I took him for his booster jab recently, and was thrilled when the vet commented on his condition and superb coat.

How come you've kept him on it for this long?

If he likes the other food i would switch him over to it too.

There is nothing particularly natural or good in that natures best food,and i'm not familiar with the ingredients in Burgess.

Re:Your pm which i've only just found as i didnt get a notification..Do you have arden grange,JWB available where you are? If you cant get hold of orijen then i would go for AG first,jwb second. How come you cant get food shipped to you?

The cost of shipping puts companies off. He has never eaten his food quickly he is very fussy and because we changed alot at the start we thought that it would be better if he had some stability but we were obviously wrong. He would happily eat our leftovers but I can't guarrantee that every day and would rather keep him on his own food so that he isn't always holding out for ours.

Yeah you're right,but with the selection you have available it's a case of the lesser of the evils..

The Burgess Lamb that teri linked to looks ok,however i wouldnt touch any of their other varieties with a barge pole

Here's the ingredients to the adult formula(i couldnt find the puppy ingredients):

Cereals, meat and animal derivatives (min 14% chicken, min 2% meat juices), oils and fats, minerals, derivatives of vegetable origin, with antioxidant and colourant EC additives.

Really,really terrible IMHO.

Wafcol do a salmon&potato that from memory has decent ingredients.

The  Burgess puppy version has:

poultry meat meal (min 26%) rice (min 25%) maize, herring meal,poultry fat,chicken digest, sugar beet pulp, dried egg, brewers yeast with antioxidants bha and bht

I won't be changing just yet as I have food left though.

Whether or not a cereal comes first is often irrelevant, the labelling laws in this country say that the largest SINGLE ingredient should be put first.  Many foods APPEAR to be higher in meat than others because of grain splitting or multi grains.  As in the Burgess puppy food over 50% of the contents are cereal.

JWB is easily available and a good dry food and have a lamb version, they also have a version with no grains at all.
