I have just changed my gang over to a RAW diet and I gave Chicken wings to the two adults last night for the first time. My old boy munched up the wings no problem (they didn't last as long as I hoped) it didn't scare me a little but held it for him so he would munch and not swallow it whole. With my girl she didn't know what to do with the wing (bless her) she just licked it so I broke it up into bits but she still didn't seem know to munch it. How should I encourage her to get stuck in?

Just give her time and she will get to love it ! They do find it strange as they are different textures and tastes so it is a new experience for them

If I give my lot wings they devour them in seconds

Just keep trying giving her different things and she will get the idea that the food you are giving is so much tastier and fun than the processed foods

Cool, thanks. It's best to break them up so it's easier for her to chew or leave them whole? I must admit she did look funny just looking at it and looking at me puzzled wondering what she should be doing with it!

You can smash them if you want but have always fed mine whole

If she is fed in sight of the other dog she will get the idea

It is always a worry time the first few months of changing over the raw feeding but you soon relax and enjoy it !

I don't feed just raw diet, but my do have chicken wings at least once a weeks.
All mine love them, even the 7 month old, but I do smash her's up with a hammer and encourage her alot.
But one of mine now 2yrs, eats it whole then regurgitates it several times before eating it. This worries he alot, think she is choking.

It is quite common for regurgitation so don't worry !

It is a very rare for any dog to choke on bones

One of my Labs has got a bone caught in her upper mouth but was easy enough to lever out and didn't do any damage to her soft tissue.

It is always wise to be on hand when feeding

My boxer throws his around the garden growling at it out of excitement when he gets his.  The older girl just looks on in disgust
I always watch them eat them though just incase anything untoward might happen.

Mine think it is treat day when i give them , even the little cav, who takes that long with one, the huskies are dribbling at her after having three each . One question i have is...... Is it ok to give frozen ones in the summer? as ihave been told it is ok but am a little unsure about it.

Boxers - one chomp- swallow.
Cavs - drag the (possibly salmonella laden) wings all over my carpets then take forever to eat it. Often to be found on the furniture later.
Special needs cav ( no not really, just not very bright...bless) carries his around for ages hoping someone will pay attention to him.

Been very brave and given Zuma, 6mth GSD, his first wing last night. I got it out of the pack, offered it to him, then thought those bones feel awful big so took it back and bashed 7 shades out of it while he sat patiently waiting.
He loved it, took it to show OH then chewed happily and came back tooking for more.

Question? he is fed on Burns extra with 2-3 teaspoons of tin tripe twice a day, How many wings a day would anyone suggest. Not converting to full Barf in the foreseeable future.

My Flatcoat eats them however they come, however, my Golden doesn't like them too cold.  I have to get them out of the fridge to warm up a bit.  Fussy little devil.

I don't think our Goldens even notice how cold they are, one gulp and they're gone!

I give mine theirs straight out of the freezer.  It seems to make him chew his more rather than as tooolz put it 'boxers - one chomp, swallow' LOL!
