Suggestion:
Is there any chance (as the winds of change blow through CD!!)
*Passes Teri another fleece!*

That we could have an 'Articles' section.... (or keep good articles locked at the top of forums) ??
Very often we re-post Articles, and as alot of folk arrive here through 'google' (and other search engines!!) It might be nice to have all our tried and trusted ones in one place for ease of finding/reading??
It might also stop some of the debacles that happen on threads (Im thinking Breeding forum!!) If we can have a 'library' of Articles to refer folk to..or indeed for them to consider and self educate before (sometimes) being thrown into the lions den of condemnation....which seems to be happening alot these days...and makes for weary reading which ever side of the fence your on....
Thoughts?

Hiya HG, good idea in principle but you know what it's like, people will add an article
they think is good and whato, bun fight ensues

There are some good 'articles' at the beginning of boards i.e. breeding.

LOL..... yes good point!!
Im minded of *that* infamous link on feeding calling owners murderers!!

Loathed to give Admin an the Mods more work...but maybe we could have a system where you would 'submit' your suggestion first then it could be put up?
(*looks beseechingly @ Leigh and Mark!!*)

What about just a links thread with no comments or replies? You post a link with subject title so peeps know what it's about but leave it to readers to make their own minds up as to whether it's something they want to take on board or not?

could that not be done through the blog section? If you start a breeding, feeding etc blog and others add their on without using it as a debate forum would that meet the requirements?

Best make that with thermal undies, hat, gloves, scarf, fleecy boots, thick socks (oh, and a *little* hip flask too) HG

Good idea in a way but might have some problems re copyright ...............
Solution of course could be you should take it upon yourself to make up a few lengthy tomes and sign them over lock stock and double barrel to Admin on the proviso that we get better smilies, lose the blogs and obliterate the avatars

This is something I have wanted to do for a long time. The trouble has been finding the time to dig out all those really good older threads. There are some real gems hidden deep in the archives.
Now if I had an army of willing volunteers I am sure it is something that we could get done in next to no time

If you find anything interesting either post in this thread or PM me.
The quickest way to search the forum for old topics is by using
Google.
Just replace keyword1,keyword2 with your search terms.
Your help would be very much appreciated.

So far we have had no nominations at all !
If you find a post you think is worth of making the library just use the "Report" button to flag it up.
Come on, you asked for it, now help us put it together.

~~Thanks Mark!!~~

Im busy Worm busting at the moment!! (have a virus on PC

I will try and think of some and PM you.

I just saw this piece on crating puppies by Turid Rugaas. It's not on a post I can report so I've just added it here.

*Bumping this thread due to recent comments made on the Breeding forum*In my defence shortly after this thread I went back into Hospital so never got round to making use of Mark (Admin)'s kind agreement that we could have articles to refer to.
But..Im back with a vengance now

I really believe some good articles on Ethical Breeding, Health testing, Lines, Mentoring, Whelp etc etc.. Should be put up so that anyone feeling they cant give advice to some one whom they believe has questionable breeding practices, can at least put up a link to these articles and job done. Lets not give these types anymore 'Air time' by long protracted threads where everyone comes in with their tuppence worth.
Makes for better reading and takes away the likelyhood that someone who needs sound advice (but not the advice they nesc. wanted to hear

) Can then turn around and acuse any advice as being 'bullying' 'belittling'[sic],'snide','nasty' etc etc
Im sure at the end of the day non of us wants to see mud slinging or have good sound advice lost in afore mentioned mud
So.... Who's in????You know who you are... get writing! get researching! and we'll all have more hair!!

Good one Liv - should be in bed by now as early up tomorrow for lengthy journey but when I get back I'll def do some revision on previous threads, linked topics, articles etc that may strike the right chord (i.e. instead of wanting to strike the posters

)

That's an excellent idea - I'm another one who will start searching.
I've noticed many threads recently about puppy biting and crate training. If themes like this start to emerge could this trigger a link to older threads?

Great idea Liv. I'll keep my eyes peeled for pages for quality articles.

Hi Mark
Some ideas for the library relating mostly on behaviour board topics

As mouthing/inappropriate biting with pups is forever being raised, this
Bite Stop / Inhibition article should prove useful.
Also
The Puppy's Rule of 12And this article on the
Nothing In Life Is Free method of training may be appropriate/useful for the same section

This is a wonderful idea HG. Just got a chance to look at this thread....I too am guilty of just using the active topics option.
Health tests are important subjects on here, so what about threads related to them? Or the contracts thread????

Suggestion:
***********Admin,
Any chance as we're re-jigging at the moment that the 'Articles' section which is on the front page and gets missed could be put into 'Other Boards' pleeeeeeease?
Members,
Anyone going to have a go at writing a useful 'Article'?
I think this would be a useful area to direct people too, whad'ya think?
Running'Idita-choc' Sled race with Lori!~Supporting the Emergency Services Police,Ambulance&Fire~

I still have my "
ONLY A PET" article if you want to use it
It's not what you say, it's what you DO that counts...

I think this is a great idea!
Over the years I've read so many good articles on CD.
It would be great to have constant access to them here.

We can still search back historically can't we? But it is a good idea that a special section is highlighted where people can look first when they come to the site looking for information. Another site (for Coeliacs) that I use has a 'supplementary board' where threads that are useful are kept for reference which is especially good for eating out abroad for instance. This serves the purpose of a library.
