Hi.Please could you tell me what is the best tripe to give my dogs and where can i buy it?I have read a lot about tripe here and i think my dogs must be missing out on something good!

i buy it in frozen blocks from local corner  pet food store
its already chopped just thaw and feed the maker is prize chioce

You can buy it in Pets at Home in the freezer section    or some local pet shops sell it

I get mine delivered, either from landywoods or berriewoods.

I'm not sure about the ratio, but would say build it up gradually.

Really? I always give mine tripe if they have had an upset tummy.

Well thats what i had heard and when i asked around, several people (including a vet nurse) said be very carefully as it can cause bad tummies and is not a good thing to give if their tummy is already poorly. I wanted to feed it as a treat for my dog but was put off by what people said
I do the plain rice or pasta with chicken or scrambled egg if fred is poorly and find other ways to vary his diet and give him a treat.

You should try it, you might be surprised.  I never go on hearsay (even if it is a vet nurse!) all dogs are different, it might really suit your boy.  When I look after my friends toy poodle (who has suffered with her stomach and is on a sensitive dog food) she often has a spoon full of tripe in with her biscuits to get her to eat them and has no ill effects.

as with any type of food, complete, dry/wet, home cooked, raw, mixture of all of the above, not all dogs will react similarly - however, some dogs cannot tolerate a high fat content in their diet - hence why tripe, as with any high fat food, in a large quantity per day/meal may cause looser stools etc. 

Most of my dogs over the years have loved it and thrived on it however one couldn't stand the smell LOL - and that suited me!

i did try it once. My friend let me have some as she feeds all her 5 standards on it. Unfortunately Fred didnt get on with it.....and i could not believe the smell   I have an incredibly strong stomach but the look and smell of the tripe made me feel so sick. Dont know how you lot can feed it to yours!!!!

If you just want to give it a try I would suggest the freeflow stuff at PAH. You can buy a bag and just thaw what you want to use for the meal whether it's a spoonful or the full meal. Double wrap what you don't use in a couple plastic bags as it really does smell!

The freeflow doesn't smell half as bad as the blocks!  for a beginner I too would recommend freeflow!

I am used to it now though and use blocks from berriewoods.

My Golden loves it and it never upsets him but my Flatcoat can only take about a third of a 454g bag, so I usually take out a bag of meat and a bag of tripe and split accordingly.

I started giving it to my Dobe after he'd had the most terrible gastroenteritis as a pup and I just couldn't get any weight on him. Worked brilliantly. He still has an iffy stomach if I'm not careful about what he eats (although blood dripping raw things he seems to be fine with!), but he's never had a problem with tripe. It was actually Amelie at Naturediet who recommended tripe to me - she said it's very gentle on the stomach and they put it in the same category as "white meat", rather than the richer red meats which are much more likely to cause upset.

I am like you my dogs have always had ultra firm motions after having trip, even if they haven't had it for age or ever before.  Raw and green of course.

I have an incredibly weak stomach and yet I can just about manage to feed my 2 whole, very ripe tripes as part of their BARF diet and yes, like others on here I also find there is nothing like tripe for firming up their motions
