I've been reading an view regarding dry food being mixed with pasta to lower protiens levels within the food.
I've never heard this one before, has anyone else?

It also mentioned using Eukanuba which is a higher protien food and is more easily absorbed to correct as they put it a flat temperament.
Interesting stuff and I've never thought about the use of pasta.

But wouldnt it reduce the amount of vits and minerals in the food, hence being less healthy for the dogs??? As it just bulkks the food out???

could you not just feed a lower protein food ?

Pasta, being made from wheat, would still have a certain amount of protein   Wheat is added to burgers to bulk up the protein levels in fatty meat   Durum wheat which is used for pasta making can have protein levels as high as 18%   so really, all you will do is dilute the levels of vitamin ands minerals.

if you want to give food with lower protein levels, then usually you can find a complete food to suit

I read this on another forum and had not heard of this before. Its not me I'm a raw diet chap for my old boy.
Dill your thoughts are the same as mine. I wondered how they were able to calculate the levels where as you could as you say just find another food type.

Thats the problem with trying to fiddle with a diet without actually understanding the ingredients   I'm amazed at the number of people who pay a fortune for a really expensive dog food and then try to cut corners by mixing half and half with cheap ingredients or cheap dog food (need a mind boggling smiley )  I can't understand why not just buy a more affordable dog food that fits the requirements?

ETA - or feed BARF or make your own diet

Protein is not all the same, some is complete some incomplete; some is bio available to the dog some is not.

Basically this is an extremely flawed argument.
