I'm Viv and I own a brindle fawn Whippet and a brown dobergirl. We've owned Longdogs for to many years to remember and they are my fave dogs really. The Dobergirl is wonderful too, but phew she's hard work and never stops, so we call her the all action Dobe.
I do post a bit, but do like to read what others say as it's always useful to gather up other peoples experience and learn from them yourself.

I'm Paula, I'm 28 and live in Hampshire with my partner, one daughter and our crazy bunch of dogs. Daisy is a fawn pug, Edith is a black pug and Cole is a black staff x. In Daisys current litter there is a bitch we have named Gwen and a dog named Ug (hes off to a friends house, she named him lol) that we are keeping back.
I grew up in a dog-free household so always wanted one. Worked/lived at a quarantine/boarding kennel for a year before returning to where I grew up to settle down to family life. We are now in the process of clearing a small old farm and hope to live on it in the near future, that can only mean one thing.... room for more dogs! Hehe ;-) I would love to one day run my own kennels.
I have visited Champdogs on and off for a few years now and finally joined a while back. I mainly read but do occasionally post, even starting the odd topic now and then. I love reading other peoples experiences and as far as I'm concerned, theres always room to learn!

Hi, I'm Bev from Costa del Essex. I am widowed and have been bringing up my grandaughter since she was born 16yrs ago.   When my husband was alive we used to show and occasionally breed rough and smooth collies, but it was nearly 30 years ago, so am really out of touch with the breeding and showing side now.
I have owned quite a few different breeds of dogs and I done a course on cat and dog nutrition, but again that was quite a few years ago so I am again no expert on that, although I have done a fair bit on  foods and allergies so although no expert I have gained a little knowledge.
After losing my last two dogs to auto immune disease I have also done a lot of research on thier type of auto immune and vaccination links to it but I still am learning new stuff all the time.
I am at the present time working with one of my dogs who suffers with fear aggression this has been ongoing for nearly 2 years but we are making slow progress and hopefully one day it will all be in her past.
So as you see I am not expert at anything but I do enjoy reading posts on here and learning more all the time, there is always something new everyday to learn.
Sorry I mean't to add that I am now owned by my 3yr old male JRT called Milo and my girl Shady who is a RottiexGSD

Hello, I'm Kirsty,29 yrs old fast approaching 30 !!! live in sunny Tamworth !!! engaged to be married one day !!! but most happily owned by my 3 yrs & 3 month old GR called Kez who is my best friend.

I am lucky to only work p/t so we go off on our adventures every afternoon mostly in Sutton Park/Kingsbury Water park. I am very proud of him, we have been asked to attend crufts this year for the 3rd time to be on the discover dogs stand. He is also a PAT dog.

I read champdogs most days but never really post or reply a little to shy for that, I do not profess to know the in's and out's of dogs although they have played a huge part of my life, I can say this - I learn something new everyday about them and theirs owner :o)

It's nice getting to know you all

Hello everyone!

My name is Kelly, I am 23 and I have just started up my own pet business. Official launch is not 'til summer really as i'm still at uni at the moment finishing my business course.

I have 3 dogs, a BCxESS dog who is 5, a Mini Dachshund (smooth) bitch who is 3 and a Weimaraner bitch who is 2. I am also co-owner so to speak, of a 10 year old Lurcher. I used to enjoy showing, unfortunately my weim was attacked by another dog when she was just 9 months old and never quite got over it, despite a lot of hard work and gradual improvement she still doesn't get on with dogs which she is unfamiliar with and making friends is a bit of a task for her. We are still working on this however, a constant work in progress that one!

I'm looking to move into Rotts in a couple of years, i'd like the business to settle down first but I ADORE them, have a few pals in rotts already so will be looking out all you rottie owners for sure!

What makes me an expert? Well I certainly don't profess to be an expert but I have certainly learnt a lot, especially from handling my weim and her issues and overcoming various hurdles with her and only hope I can help others from the experiences i've learnt myself and also gain more insight from being here as you never know it all, there is always room to learn more about dogs.

I also have a wee boy and 5 cats.

Hi, Im Kory.  I live in Ontario Canada.
I am a hobby breeder of Miniature Pinschers.  Currently, I am showing my little girl, and working towards her Canadian Championship.  She has 7/10 points, and seems to be doing really well in the show ring!  Cher is a wonderful little dog, and I couldnt imagine my life without her!
I also live with my mom, who owns a CH Miniature Pinscher.  She is really lovely as well, but more the old style min pin.
I have been around dogs all my life, and dont remember a time when the house was dog free.  Have had Dobermans, English Springer Spaniel, and now the Miniature Pinscher.

I am an artist, and paint Indian Ink Style paintings of different dog breeds.  And to toot my own horn, I am really good at it too.

I wish I could own more dogs, as there are so many breeds that I am absolutely in love with!  Was looking into getting another ESS, but that will be a far future venture.  (As my mom just adds, it may be the spring.....OMG)  But, after Joy, I realized that a house is empty without a Springer.  Trust me, I am not trying to replace her, but I miss having that Springer Love.  Looking at some wonderful pedigrees, and have fallen in love with a chocolate bitch, and may get one of her pups eventually.

Love to read, write, and paint.  Used to dance, until my knees totally messed up on me (wasnt supposed to dance in the first place, but as a kid you think you are invinsible!).  Love Ballet, Contemporary, and hip hop/krump.

So thats a little about me!
This is the last time I will allow you to take a breath from my lungs to fill your own.

Hi,
I'm Gemma 21 (oh 22 next week just remembered) from the Isle of Man, if you're not sure where that is, we're the little green blob between Ireland & the UK :-)

I have 3 boxers + 1 more that I'm looking after whilst my "bister" (best friend whos like a sister) is away working.
I live with my mum & dad and would love my own house but unfortunatly that's impossible as house prices are stupily high over here and I couldn't afford one being single, even though I work for the Isle of Man Bank.

Boxers have always been a family thing, my nana had them, then dad rescued one and then when I was 18 I saw an add for a litter and bought a puppy bitch, from that went to general puppy training but stayed to watch the ringcraft then got in to agility aswell :-)

Showing boxers is also a family thing I've just learnt, my grandad use to breed & show them but I'm still trying to find out what names his dogs were etc - if you're from the Crewe area and the name Stockton with Boxers in the 50's is familiar PM me :-) :-)

I'm only a novice in boxers but have been taking part in dog shows with my friends Bolognese & Silky Terriers for a long time so I know about showing and rules etc but wouldn't call myself an expert, just a person who loves dogs and the hobbies I have with them :-)

By Nikita (****) [gb] Date 16.03.08 10:38 GMT
Hello!  I'm Nikita of the Forgetful Brain (just realised I've forgotten to add to this thread oh, half a dozen times :-p)!

I'm a part-time cleaner at present, but as of (hopefully) the end of this coming week I'll be a dog trainer/behaviourist doing one-to-one pet training work and behaviooural consults.  Hopefully!

I've always, always loved dogs - I can remember badgering mum for a puppy for, well, as long as I can remember!  She never let me have one - my first dog was an 8yr old irish water spaniel X (probably) springer spaniel, she was rescued and only allowed home because my sister knew her (she worked in the boarding kennels where Opie spent most of her life).  I finally got my first pup not long after mum passed away, and it's gone downhill since then - 2 months later came Opi, then when I eventually moved out there was Soli, then River.  I like having a decent pack about the place!

I used to be a groomer but packed up when I moved house (moved 200 odd miles so couldn't really keep the clients!!), not in a position to start up again and TBH I don't want to.  I'm much more into the training side of things.

I suppose you'd say "my" breed is the dobermann - Remy (the first pup) and Soli are both dobes, a fawn and a red respectively.  Remy got me hooked almost from day 1 (he was an impulse buy I will admit), and I'd wanted a red for a couple of years before I found Soli.  As long as I live, and with luck it will be long (and assuming the good old DDA doesn't get to them), I will always have at least one dobe - more likely two or three :-p I also adore Anatolian Shepherds - one day, one day...

Remy also got me into training - I'm coming to the end of 3 years on a foundation degree in canine behaviour and training, it's taught me a heck of a lot - without it I have no doubt I would not have been able to cope with Soli and her various issues, but as it stands, she has come a long, long way in the short time i've had her and between her and the course, I now feel ready to help other people with their dogs - and feel I can help with difficult dogs, not just the usual pet troubles.
A goof, an eejit, a fruitloop and a maniac. LIfe wouldn't be the same without them :-)
By Bobzee (*) [gb] Date 16.03.08 17:08 GMT
Hi!  Been meaning to do this for some time now so here goes LoL!

I'm Robyn and am 23.  I currently work for Pets at Home though currently studying dog psychology and behaviour.  In the future I hope to run my own doggy business to do with training and behaviour but also walking and sitting etc etc :-) In my spare time I also walk and look after my friends dogs when they are away

I have a golden retriever, Lucy who is 11 now and a little darling, yet sod at the same time bless her!  I am also hoping to have an addition this year in the way of a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy after the past couple of years research so all exciting stuff there :D  When Lucy was younger I used to show her and do both obedience and agility and when I get the new pup I hope to show once again.  I do stewarding at the moment when I get the chance :-)

I wouldn't say I am an expert in no uncertain terms but do have experience in various fields of the doggy world and am always learning as I am sure we all are!

Hi, I'm Deirdre.

I have lived with dogs all my life but got my first Samoyed in 1981. Since then I have never been without several of the breed. I have 14 at present ranging in age from 18 months up to 14 1/2 years. I breed the occasional litter, 8 in my 27 years in the breed. I show some of my sams and live in Scotland with my two sons aged 20 and 10.

I am certainly no expert and believe that there is always something to learn.

Hi i'm Sophie i'm 23.  I've recently left the Army after nearly 5 years service and i'm looking to find a career working with dogs.  I have been brought up with rotties and GSD but owned and showed a very handsome Boxer!  I have a real passion for dogs and find myself surfing the net for hours researching! :-)  I have now got an Akita X Mastiff pup, strange cross but he is doing really well and has a fantastic temperament so far.  Would really love to own a Dobermann in the future. Loving this forum, everyone seems really nice and very helpful.  :-)

Hi am Jacqui.35 years old. Single mum to a 14 year old daughter. The first dog I ever remember was a German shepherd we had when I was 3. then we got a Springer Spaniel when I was 5. we later got a black Labrador and my Auntie came to visit and left us her blue Merle Border collie. When I left home I got a German shepherd. And later ended up with 5 GSDs.
I had a Whippet I rescued and re homed I also rescued a Japanese Akita, Jack Russell and a few cross breeds who I also re homed . Later on I took in a stray Collie cross  that I had till old age and now I have a chihuahua who may be a mix as he's a bit too big. I have done some showing in the past and hope to get back in to it
I have been in love with the Elkhound for the past 6 years and hope to get my first one this summer as I cant wait any longer lol

Andrew, 28, family originally North London, but now Leicester.

Financial Advisor, non league footballer.

Have 2 children, Charlie b 21 months and Harvey - brown Dobe, 5.

Dog mad, all I talk about and all i'm ineterested in!

I was formerley a pro footballer and had several offers from various clubs as a young trainee, but picked the localist club so I wouldn't be too far from my beloved Boxer Max, who was my best friend and went everywhere with me. Lost him to cancer aged 8, think anout him every second of every day.

Bullie mad, go to shows etc and desperate to get one, would like to breed perhaps in the future.

Would get one now, but our Dobe is rather hard work, in fact total nightmare - but a lovely boy and gentle as anything with my little son.

Hi all, I just joined, and I am from Perth, Australia.  I am 24 and have two English Setters and a Weimaraner.  I have had Weims since i was 8yo and fell in love with the English setter at the same age.  I got my first English Setter when i was 19, his name is Spartan.  I now also have James, an orange belton and my latest addition is 10 month old Weimaraner, Ariane, who i got as my next show dog (just retired Spartan) when i realised how much i missed having a Weimaraner in my home.
I am by no means an expert on dogs but I enjoy learning and imparting the little knowledge i have onto others... Apart from being involved in the showing world, i also attend obedience, but unfortunately it all takes a backseat to the show ring!
I look forward to getting to know you all :-)

Im Viv and I am owned by a 16 month old Cocker, blue roan called Whistler. My OH Colin has a 14 month old Border Collie called Jake. We live in Winchester, Hampshire. I have two sons aged 23 & 21 and Colin has two daughters aged 25 & 27. We have been married 17 years.
My OH & I own a specialist construction company which operates within about 100 miles of here, apart from the off foray into Exeter or Kent when we get our blokes to stay away. We have ended up in Edinburgh once (we thought we would be woking for Harvey Nicks in London but it was Edinburgh!!)
Had dogs all our lives, had two mongrels when the kids were 3,5,7&9 a house full. When the last dog was PTS in 1996 we decided no dogs until we could be with them 24/7. Couldn't decided what breed so we had a his n' hers.
Would like to show but cocker is too tall and Border had to be castrated!!
When I get more time I would like to foster but i need to be home more.
Hello to all.

Hi i'm Sue and i'm honoured to have in my pack the dog of my dreams a Bernese. I waited so patiently for 2 years to get him after putting my name on a breeders list, i couldn't be more happy.
I wasn't really understanding when people said to me you'll never be able to survive on just one, they are addictive, i now know what they mean and am thinking about getting another one next year sometime. I was looking to import, but with the way the economy is going i'm going to save my pennies and look for one over here.

Also in the house, though not my dogs are 2 Jacks which are my sisters, though she moved out and left them behind and a yellow Lab. The Lab is great and so docile and he gets on really well with my Bernese. The Jacks are very highly strung and not a dog for me, though they will remain in the house until either my sister takes back responsibility or they cross the rainbow bridge.

What a cracking idea this thread is:
I'm Katrina, mid 50's, married 33 years. From when I was tiny we had dogs, it was mongrels, and as our bitch used to be a houdini and would escape to become a lady of the night, most pics of me show me with an armful of puppies. In those days, most dogs were just let out to roam about, so she didn't have any problem finding a suitor! Since I had dogs of my own (last 30 years) have had mongrel (collie type) GSDXLab, German Shepherd, Mongrel with corgi bits on :-), very old adopted mongrel, my current 2 GSD's and another mongrel with retriever bits on. My passion is German Shepherds, but would one day like a greyhound too. Not an expert by any means, but do have many 'mistakes' under my belt that I hope I've learned a lot from. Know plenty about HD, and AF from having the shepherds (sadly). Have done obedience and agility with the GSDs, and obedience with one of the mongrels. I Home vet for a local rescue centre, and worked there when out of work a few years back as a volunteer. My sister used to do animal rescue years ago, and helped her with loads of animals. Like to think I have common sense when it comes to animals., although I pick up every passing pigeon and waif, but pass them on to people 'who can'. I could never walk by.
Other animals currently includes a couple of bantam hens, but in the past have had Barn Owls, an iguana, a chameleon, various reptiles, 5 cats, numerous rats etc. Never been a cage bird fan though.

I'm Joan, married and mother of two grown up kids one of whom has just flown the nest :-)

I own five Malamutes, bought one as a pet and the rest as they say is history :-p I regularly show, my dogs work in harness with or without me, we do backpacking and our new sport is weight pulling. Summer or winter, we're usually doing something with the dogs :-) I ran Malamute rescue for two years but had to give it up when my career took a new direction, still actively involved though. I have been on the breed club committee for 3 or 4 years (can't remember now!) and I administer their website.

I found rescue to be a steep learning curve, I learned so much about the breed in such a short space of time but still I know very little and I'm learning all the time. Give me another 40 years and I might know enough to get by :-D
