When walking my dog he goes mad when seeing a cat - he shakes and barks (mind you, not every cat!!)  I have tried taking food with me and offering as a distraction when I can see one as we are approaching, also I have tried speaking to him (distracting), but once he has seen the cat that is it.  I make him sit and I talk calming to him - but he just shakes and his breathing is erratic!

my dog is the same,hes an 8mth GSD. he goes mad when he sees a cat on our street,i too have tried food/toy distractions, and sitting him down to try and calm him down,nothing works, we also have a cat, and hes a nightmare with him,dont know why hes like this because he used to sleep with the cat when he was tiny. i wish i could offer you some help,but im at a loss too, so youre not on your own.

yep mine are the same too and my youngest does the same when passing the ponies (new forest). its a constant battle and once she's fixed, no talking, feeding or other distracton will unfixate her. its just a case of keep walking at pace straight past.

mines a case of hold on tight and stand my ground before i get dragged down the road lol
joking aside it is annoying and can ruin a nice walk..i have dreams of eliminating all cats on our street...not a good idea though as we own one ...lol
