Hi i have noticed that my bitch has a swollen lip today and it is sore as she does'nt want  me to touch it the swelling is on the jagerd bit right on the edge has anyone had this before do you think it is a allergic reaction?

could be an allergic reaction from contact with something (some plant sap is irritant) could be a foriegn body in there(thorn) or even infection from a tear or piercing( wire or stick etc not ear ring or belly bar )

Maybe you should get it looked at especially if it gets bigger as infection might be spreading.

I would go and see a vet to be sure. I'm always worried over possible infections on faces and them spreading to eyes etc (I got a telling off from my doctor when I went about an eye infection I'd had for a few days and was told I should have gone sooner incase it spread to my brain!) Extreme I know but its better to be safe than sorry - particularly if its swollen and causing pain.

Thanks for your replies i did take her to the vet but as she had been mated she could not have any treatments we have found out that is a reaction to the floor cleaner i used her lips went down with just using vasoline but i cleaned the floor again and they came back up again i cleaned the floor with cif wood floor cleaner so will go back to cleaning with washing up liquid for a while.
