>8 Weeks and no younger to conform with KC regulations

The KC has no regulation on the age at which puppies can be sold. In fact their own website says that "The ideal age to buy is between seven and eight weeks old..

It's the norm with dogs bred for obedience to leave home at 6 weeks(providing they have been fully weaned & pass their vet check)to experienced homes

My Wukee came home at 6 weeks 3 days & is a very balance outgoing bold 4 month old boy now.

regardless of what the KC says mine go at 7 weeks due to the academic research that has been done to suggest the optimum time for pups to go to their new homes, at 8 weeks they hit a sensitive stage.

Have any of you changed when you let pups go due to unusual circumstances?

e.g. we picked up our pup in between 7 and 8 weeks as the weekend after would have been bonfire night and we asked the breeders that if this was the usual age they would let their pups go if they could keep him until the weekend after as pup away from litter + new home + travel + bonfire night = mega stress for the little thing
Another day, another lesson learned :-)

Oh yes, definitely. I've kept a couple of puppies on for a little longer when the buyer has a holiday booked, for example.

I have never had a litter all go in one week.  the most that went in one day was 3 and I promised myself never again.  the people arrived in the wrong order, one lot were really early the others late and two lets came together.

Trying to sort all the paperwork etc it was bedlam.

Now I let only two go in any one day and pups start to leave the weekend after they are 7 weeks, but it is quite usual to have pups staying longer for various reasons.  it is much kinder on teh Muma nd litter.
