Previous Next Up Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / seen ad, why cant they be registered?
By Gemini05 (***) [gb] Date 09.03.08 10:43 GMT
I have seen an ad, advertising my breed but am confused!
The ad reads that both parents are fully pedigree registered which I guess the owner means KC registered, but states that the pups can not be registered?????

I can only guess that either the mother is too old to have a litter and would not be allowed to register a litter, or that the mother has had its limit of litters this year and the owner has still let her have a litter???

I does make me cross, i should not really keep looking at these ads but I do, and the prices for these un reg pups is very very close to that of a registered one!!

Hi,
Don't presume because they have full pedigrees there are KC registered. A pedigree is only a family tree, a mongrel can have a pedigree.
If the parents arn't registered then the pups can't be registered. :-)

I would think it likely that the parents KC papers are endorsed to prevent pups being registered.  It is supposed to deter irresponsible breeding as only the breeder the but obviously won't put off those determined to make a money out of their dogs :-(

Also, apart from all the other reasons that someone may not have KC pups, there is also stolen dogs, there are hundereds of dogs and especially pedigree pups stolen every year, those pups grow up and are used by the theives to mate with and then sell on those pups. This is also why buying a none KC reg pup or dog is discouraging theft, which will help save many owners from going through the misery of loosing their beloved dogs and pups, not to mention the lives these poor animals end up having. :-(

Just for that reason alone I would ask anyone reading this thread to just not buy a pup unless it is KC registered with all health checks etc.

It will help a little in the fight to stop most of these thefts.

Yes did not think about the endorsement side of things, very scary.
I do know the difference between Pedigree and KC reg dogs and what it means.

It is so annoying again, that there is nothing I can do when I come across these sorts of ads, apart from eductate people that may contact me about my breed.

I've seen the same ad, and I guess like you I tend to look at these sites to see whats about, then I just end up rather mad at them or feeling sorry for said dog/s.  Curiosity always makes me wonder what the breeding is behind said dogs, but then I am almost certain that the majority on those kind of sites won't really be thinking of the long term and just the money factor, tis sad.

I do tend to get tormented when I see pups/dogs for sale which are just money spinners :-(   Seen a lot of ads lately for young bitches for sale, just ready for a season etc :-( :-( :-(  really makes me angry that there's nothing can be done to stop this :-(  at the end of the day it's dogs that pay the price :-(

Surely putting something like that will actually draw the tax man to them?

LOL  I thought it was a bit of a risk myself ;-)   I wouldn't touch a breeder who put that in an ad with a bargepole ;-)  and yes I did think like you, that it was 'shooting themselves in the foot'  ;-)
