Previous Next Up Topic Dog Boards / Showing / UKC Championships? (Sensitive Subject)

I was looking at Pedigrees of some very well off dogs.

The thing is, a lot of them say they have UKC Championships, and from what I have been told, cropped dogs can not be shown in the UK.  These dogs are cropped, and are of a breed that if it is cropped, it needs to be done at 8 weeks of age or their ears wont go up.

How are these dogs getting UKC Championships?  If there is an exemption for international born dogs, or whatever.

Just curious on the rules. As, like I said, these breeds can not have cropping put off until finishing a UKC Championship, and these dogs are cropped (seen pics and such).

Not trying to start a flame or anything on the subject of cropping.  Just wanting to know if I should believe what these breeders are saying, or if I should stear clear cos I hate breeders that lie about their dogs.

Thanks!

I think in the US there's the "United Kennel Club" which is nothing to do with the AKC, or the British KC. Certainly cropped dogs are banned from the showring in the UK, and have been for decades, so they certainly can't get a British title.

Edit: yes, I've just found this about the UKC. The breeders must be referring to a title from this organisation. They seem to have their own registration, breed recognition and breed standards.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it

Thanks for that link.

I wasnt sure, on all the ins and outs, as I know here, even though docking and cropping are the norm, and even when the breed standard says that these dogs are cropped and docked, if it is an international dog, the lack of these procedures are not to be held against them.
