I have an australian terrier bitch who is 4 years old she had her first litter last year. I have struggled with her weight for two years, she is exercised and on a diet food and gets no treats, but still she is holding weight.  I myself do not believe this is due to fat I think she has hormone problems or is even having a phantompregnancy but how do I tell? is there a magic cure out there?  I show this bitch and have in the past attained many wins but last year she changed and no amount of diet or exercise could make her slim, I decided to have a litter from her which was very straight forward, and she has had a two seasons since the last one xmas but since this last season she has ballooned again. does anyone have the answer ?

might be completely off the ball but have you thought about having her thyroid tested??

I would agree with starreyes and get her thyroid tested.
