poor thing :-(

My old lab x used to suffer terribly with ear infections to the point of his ears leaking pus & blood :-( . After severl infections treated by antibiotics, the vet gave us something to wash his ears out with (once a week), which helps clean them out, stops build up of wax so lessons the chances of ear infections. I can't remember what it's called, we only use it every couple of months now. But it isn't something you need a prescription for, it comes in little tubes, you just snap the end of & squirt half in each ear.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I hope somebody has some good suggestions, it really gets them down having sore ears.

My old lab only ever has the problem in his right ear!!! (but we always used the wash in both) Don't know if this is any help, but we have also discovered that white meat will cause his ear problems to start up. Within 4 hours of him eating chicken (or anything containing it), he will start scratting at his ear, shaking his head and his ear gets all sore inside :-(

That might be the problem i feed him diced chicken with his meal on an evening to give him extra protein.

I will take him off this for a week or so and see if it helps his problem.

Thanks again

my young rott is prone to sore smelly ears - he has had a couple of ear infections
the best thing i can advise is to clean his ears regularly - even when he doesnt have an infection, to try + prevent reoccurences
if he is really uncomfortable ask your vet if you can have some painkillers/anti-inflammatories for a few days
by swabbing your dogs ears your vet should know exactly what bugs are growing in them + what treatment to use, but i know from experience some ear infections are very nasty + can take a long time to treat

I swear by Collodial Silver, it is really good for keeping ears free of infection, it is very gentle and can be used for other things too, by both cannine and human.  I think you can probably find a link to the website if you put a search on here.
