Can anyone tell me which bit to use for dogs nails,is it the sanding drum or a grinding stone?
I dont know that I will try, but I might.

The old girl has really long 'quicks' so I think I need to start grinding them back.  She's always been like this but her 'tap dancing' is becoming much more noticeable LOL!  And I didn't dare clip them.

I'm such a COWARD about cutting their nails, especially when they are black    The dremel takes a bit of getting used to but makes such a difference!  By the way, mine isn't a DREMEL, it's a WIZARD,  with 6 different speeds, so I use it on the lowest speed

I've been looking for one today, thought I'd found a bargain in Woolies, not dremel but same thing, only £20, but minimum speed was 8,000, is that too powerful?

I've got the Black and Decker Wizard corded which I felt was good value for money as it came with a pile of accessories and a nice case to keep everything in

You can buy pet dremels on eBay (need rechargeable batteries though, as they're cordless and eat through normal ones quite quickly!).

Thanks, I've seen them but they are over £30 with postage, a lot of money to trim claws!

I found mine on offer in a local store.   It was £40 well spent IMHO   OH uses it for DIY and I use it for claws.  I've had it for 8 years now and expect it to last for many more

Why not scan the local free-ad papers?  You may be able to find one for peanuts   Lots of people get them and never use them

We bought a similar thing from Homebase made by Skil for £29.99 last week. Has lots of attachments and a hard carry case too, the dremel extras fit on it also.

Wow, i never even knew this "dremel" existed. I just trim Fred's nails myself or every now and again the groomer will do it.

Well I've got it! 122 pieces and a case, £20, now I just have to pluck up the courage to use it...

Accustom your dog to it gradually! First of all I kept the dremel turned off and made sure the dogs were happy having their nails touched by it. Then I'd turn it on but not anywhere near them so that they got used to the noise. When they were happy with that I'd pick up a foot (dog's, not mine!) and just touch a nail briefly with the motor running, praise and let go. It didn't take long to be able to do a full pedicure.

how often do you use it once the dogs claws are at a length your happy with  and how often can you use it while your getting to that length how long does it take for the quick to retract until you can file again

I do my dogs' nails about once a fortnight or so, just to keep them short. I don't find that the quick retracts - the rest of the nail just grows.

Cole hides under the trampoline in the garden and Edith makes such a fuss you'd think we were going to chop her head off, not her nails!

Might have to get a cheap one (will look in Woolies). I'll be able to get the pups used to it when theyre bigger at least.
