Has anyone any experience with AI in dogs?

Did you use chilled or Frozen Semen, and what do you think gives best results?

I am currently researching this with a view to export semen to Europe. Can any one supply me with a link to Ai specialists? (Privatley if necessary)

Thanks

We used the Vets in the link, using frozen via surgical implant, and a fantastic litter was produced.

People in my breed used the vets in the link given and had a litter of 6 from one of there bitches a few years ago now, this was using frozen semen from a dog they'd bred in 1984, exported to Australia, his owner took semen from him to freeze as the dog died in 1999 & his breeders got some back!

We have sent chilled and frozen semen abroad, with successful litters, but also sent chilled where the bitch didn't hold.    Also, some semen which was sent chilled and was surplus to immediate requirements, was frozen and then used at a later date, and the bitch produced a lovely litter this way as well.

If you PM me, I can give you the name of the vet who helped over here.

We have a 18 month old Akita Bitch who was conceived by A.I but sergical now a days the Kennel Club wont allow it that way but can be also be implanted just as sucessful the other way, We use Fit & Fertile Keith and he's amazing with the whole world of Fertility ect ... And has helped us so much,

p.s the bitch had 8 puppies by Frozen semen from America.

Hi

Totally off subject but I wanted to say how well you came across on the Crufts feature,
it was enough to explain the breed both the reason to own and the reasons not to own your breed.
Well Done.
