hello...I am getting mixed advice from dog breeder friends and the vets. My bitch was due her booster lat month and I have missed it. She now has to start again with an innoculation next week and another in 3 or 4 weeks time. The problem is she is due in season any time and maybe in pup before the second one can be given. The vet says it is not a problem but some breeder friends say do not get her innocualted. She'll be fine and that they never have the booster anyway!

What do other people think?

No adult dog should require a series of vaccinations.  After 12 weeks of age a single vaccine should be sufficient.

I agree adult dogs do not need a course of vaccinations.

I personally wouldn't want to vaccinate her. if you ask your vet, they will take blood to be titre tested, which will sho w if she needs abooster at all, and she probably doesn't. It does cost more then the vaccination though, it should be around £60.

Personally I wouldn't have the second vaccine. My vet would not require me to have 2 jabs after only being one month out of date. If you feel that you want her boostered then tell your vet that you only require her to have the one booster jab. Don't forget, that you are the customer. They cannot make you have the two.

Our vet says that as long as the vac is less than 3 months overdue they only require the booster, not the whole course.
