Anyone have experience with exporting fresh chilled semen abroad ??  I have a top breeder / exhibitor who is wanting some semen from my boy sent to canada. Is the process complicated ???   Is it easy for vets to obtain a sample without an on heat bitch being present as I know they prefer this option ??   I was undecided whether to do this but many people have said it is an honour to have such a breeder want to use my dog. However, I am not one for glory"" LOL.  Is the collection etc straight forward .   many thanks  xx

Sorry, no experience of sending semen abroad but I have had a semen sample taken from my boy without an in-season bitch being around.  It depends how amenable your dog is

We have sent allot of semen to the USA ... Am sure it would be the same to Canada, We use the Fit & Fertile Keith to send our's ! He's wonderfull and knows so much about collecting it and sending it to different countries. Just in the process of sending to Holland and Australia.

We have sent Chilled to France but not to USA my advise would be to send Frozen to Canada as its such a long way.

Its great knowing you have a part of your dog stored as we think if ever anything happened to our males we have a peice of them that we can use in the future.
