I have a pile of OH's shirts that have yellow and orange curry stains down the front of them - his mouth is big enough so why he can't get the food in the right place I don't know :D  Anyone got any remedies for removing these stains?  I've soaked them in cold water, washed them in hot water, put vanish on them and washed them - the stains are still there.  Something must work, I just don't know what.  Any advice gratefully received.

You could try one of the Oxy- whatevers :-)  make a paste of the stuff and spread it on, or dilute it and soak.  Usually works for me and doesn't bleach the colour out or spoil the fabric :-)

Forgot to say, Mothercare sell lovely plastic bibs with a small trough to catch food spills in :-D :-D  he'll look daft but won't ruin any more shirts :-D

Oooh, never thought of that - you can tell I spend a lot of time in the cleaning aisle at the supermarket (not!).  I'm going tomorrow so I'll buy some.  Got to be cheaper than new shirts :-)

It would need to be a very large bib.  Stopping him eating curries might keep the shirts clean and reduce his waistline :D

Another thing is to rub fairy liquid into the stain let it go through before putting it in the washer.
I have a sloppy family here, no names mentioned and it does work.

Have you tried Cillit Bang on the stain?  I know it isn't meant for fabrics but it does a lovely job on cleaning cloths!  :-)
