Hi all
can someone tell me why using a sheep scanner is better than what the vets would use? Have seen lots of people on here asking for ones local to them so wondered why they are better.

my girl is possibly 3 1/2 weeks pregnant and was thinking of having the vet scan her. The last time they confirmed pregnancy but not how many. Am thinking of getting her scanned this time but was then wondering whether to find a sheep scanner in my area (south Hampshire).

in the vets they took the bitch to be scanned i wasnt allowed to go with the sheep scanner i see the screen i can see what she points out to me

I think that scanning is not something that some vets are expert in where as the sheep scanner is scanning all the time.

Brainless makes very good point, also the Vets may be more expensive-I only have males so that is a guess! :-)

Vets will somtimes only confirm pregnancy I like sheep scanner as he tells me the number of pups and has never been wrong .Also he`s a lot cheaper but I would still use him even if he was more expensive ,cost at moment £10.
My girls prefer him too as there is no shaving and scanned standing instead of on a table.

Umm it was a sheep scanner who scanned my friends dog and told her that it wasn't pregnant!  Two weeks later said one maybe two and she had 5 pups.
My dogs aren't my whole life, but my life wouldn't be whole without them. 05/01/08 11 stone 12 lbs

i know sheep scanners do it all the time but surely one or 2 big lambs are easier to see than small pups?

this lady i use scans lots of dogs and knows just what she is looking for and knows the anatomy of dogs and although a layman myself would think the reproduction system of dogs and sheep would be different lets face it dogs are so different in that respect look how awkward it is to predict pregnancy i wish some brainbox would discover a way of telling with urine test like humans can but thats probably why dogs are different and we love them so much   THERE NOT LIKE HUMANS
