Has anyone used canesten to treat ringworm in pups?  how long did you use it?  how many times a day?
I have been using Malesab shampoo but was told to use it for 10 wks only-the time is up now!!
I'm taking him back to the vet next week but they weren't even sure it was ringworm as it didn't floresce (sp?) and the culture was ruined when someone opened the cabinet!!!!
I noticed today in the sunlight that his skin under his fur on his shoulders looks very patchy, but it depends on the light and which way he's facing - can't notice it indoors!

Is there anything else anyone can recommend? He's 5 months old. Thank you

If it is ringworm then it is a fungal infection - for human cases the usual treatment is an athelites foot treatment - it is a fungicide.

for sucsessfull treatment for ringworm i use bleach /water mixed at 10 to 1.

Hi guys, thanx but I want it for my puppy. We haven't got it and we kiss,hug,cuddle him all the time which is why we think it must be something else - the vet is not sure what it is, hence the shampoo 'just in case'. I found a thread on here about using canesten- cant find it now

I have had ringworm on both a horse and guinea pigs before now and used Imaverol very successfully so, I assume it is quite mild (as you can use it happily on even baby guineas) You literally just dab it on the area once every 3 days I think.

Louis lost a few patches of fur when we first got him but nothing more since...but we think he his now moulting for the first time and it has made his skin more visible showing these awful patchy markings on it   I know that if it is ringworm, it is gonna take a long time to clear
His coat is lovely and glossy it's just underneath on the skin itself thats bad!!
