I have been told that a magnetic collar is supposed to help in epilepsy, does anyone have any info on this please.

Sue,

Our lab wears a magnetic collar for her joint problems and dosn't seem to have had as many fits since wearing it.

I looked into these for joint issues with my GSD however as she was also epileptic we were told that it was not a good idea and when we looked into it further we did find information to confirm that NOT getting one had been the correct choice,

Busydoggs, can you please provide further information on why it was not the correct choice?

i have an epi dog and i was quite interested about this but can only see recommendations for rather than against

It was one of the companies who do the collars maybe Bioflow maybe someone else - one of the companies that do stalls at events and in their paperwork they had it stated that to use magnetic collars when epilepsy was a condition was not advised as something contraindicated (I can't actually remember properly as this was a fair few years ago as my epileptic girl has been gone 4 years now and obviously since it was a non starter of an idea I just haven't remembered very well - will do minor googling and see if anything triggers further details in my head but am not sure .....)

It may now be that this theory has been disproved - I have no idea but I do recall with certainty that we were all set to buy one but swayed AGAINST it by a salesperson and then forun evidence to back up what had been said .... I am sorry for being vague and a little unspecific!

ALL I am now finding are things that seem to suggest they can be of help - times have changed - probably further research no idea but great if there is something else available to help dogs with epilepsy, I know all too well what a distressing condition it is to live with!
