HELP NOT FOR ME,BUT IT COULD BE,

i have a freind whos got a leo puppy last june she was rabie vacc 30 day later blood was taken the result was pass.
no level count , which to pass 0.5 which i know, just a pass.
this was to get the bitch really  to go to world show in july.
untill i told her she needed to blood test again 121 day after vacc and get the result back to enter sweden, that was march 17th she rush home got the bitch had her blood test taken the result has come back today as failed, again  no level scoring
this was a 3 year vacc,
so how come at 30 day it was a pass and last month blood fail, the owner wouldnt be any wiser if i didnt tell her the details.

but i can unstand that the 30 day blood test she can travel all over eu country no wiser knowing that the vacc levels have fail for the next two years, and not be coverd for rabies but she could  come and go from the uk to eu country on the count of the 30 day test, which as fail on 121 dat

This is why I don't understand the science of waiting 6 months from blood test to travel when it is never checked again, as long as boosters given on time.

Interesting as I waited 121 days before getting a blood test for my youngster so ti would cover both travel to Sweden/Norway and our Pet travel scheme rules, and she failed.

Interesting you ask this as only yesterday I was thinking about the two bloodtests and what would happen is the pup passed one and failed the other!

In order to get a passport my puppy (Leo too :-) ) was vaccinated and tested 30 days later, pass...
Now, we could travel to UK through Sweden but would need a another test to enter Sweden.

I was thinking of doing this but then started thinking what happens if the puppy fails the second test??
I was going to contact somebody to check but I was not sure who I should contact to see what would happen in this scenario.
I kind of decided not to risk it and take a different route to UK, not going through Sweden, just so I'm not risking getting her home in August...
Its been long enough wait!!!

I hope somebody does know the answer

i wander what the high level of failer results on the vacc blood at 121 day,

what i am try to get over is at 30 day she pass 121 day she fail,
not worried about go into sweden/norway,
but the owner no wiser untill know that it failed so if she was going back and forward to eu country the rabie vaccis not valid or coved the dog from rabies, so there another loop hole though the system that the govenment is get money for old rope bye stating we need this pet passport system,
and with a booster you dont have a blood test done again so this owner dogs may not built up any anitbodys so i wander how many other dog come in and out of the uk know ithat have pass at 30 day but there no anitbodys a round day 121 which the owner wouldnt know of untill they re booters in 2 year time and again then there may be on anitbodys in the system.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! beacuse they dont have to be blood tested

I've always thought it very risky that the antibody level is never tested again.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it

well it just show you, that a dog coming into the uk may not be coverd as well.

just a though
a dog can go bye plane to sweden from the uk on the pet passport and a blood test done on day 30 which as pass with out having blood done on day 121,
to go bye road to sweden you got to have pass the 121 day blood.
so what if you go bye plane only have the blood 30 day test pass but in 10 month time not knowing that the blood test wouldnt pass on 121 you have enter a dog into sweden with no anitbody,

there a loop hole there,

I know of few dogs that have failed the day 121 test...
These dogs did not get the test done at 30 days as they only wanted the entry to Sweden.
I wonder how common it is for a dog to pass and then by the time the 121 days have gone antibodies are not there anymore.
This really shows how pointless the test and wait for 6 months rule really is...
I think the petpassport rules should really be looked in to and changed as it does seem the rules have no backing...

It's quite likely that if the dog was tested again the antibodies would be higher.
After my dogs were titre tested and one of the levels was low, the vet explained to me that if tested again the titre level could be high.  Apparently protection relies more on 'memory' and whether or not the dog has been challenged with that particular disease.

Hence proving that our dogs don't need boosters quite as often as some experts would have us believe.
