Hi all,
I am looking to buy my 1st puppy and would love a golden retriever, we have had them in our family all our lives and I now want one for my own house. I wondered if anyone could help me source a breeder within the Manchester area?

I would not limit myself to the local area when looking for a breeder - you won't get the best available that way - unless you are super lucky!
It is worth travelling across the country for your new best friend if needs be

I have just done a 5 hour round trip to collect chickens!

Thanks for your reply, I'd be very willing to travel if anyone could recommend a good breeder x

Your best bet is to contact one of the breed clubs listed at the bottom of the
Breed Standard (click on the link) and ask for details of reputable breeders with health-tested stock. Good luck!
If it ain't broke, don't fix it
It took me quite a while to find a Golden Retriever I wanted - had to make a four hour journey there and back. I emailed several of the breeders of the champdogs breeders lists, they were all very helpful and I was pointed in the direction of several litters. I was actually succesful however by phoning the local puppy contact at the Golden Retriever Club who gave me the details of this litter which had just been born. I would recommend you ring the breed club, they should be able to point you in the right direction. x
I just drove 7 and a half hours (bristol to scotland) for my new puppy

I agree that you should pick the best pup for you regardless of distance, it's what I always have done myself, but as it happens there is a fairly wellknown and decent Golden breeder in the Mancester area that you could try contacting. I almost bought a pup from them myself a few years ago.

Love the colours of the dogs especially Jo and Jamie, and the heads seem cleaner than a lot of Goldens that seem so heavy lipped/flewed. The coats seem nice and straight/flat. I knoiw wavy is allowed but much prefer teh tidy looking flat straight coat.

Thanks everybody for your replies!
