well, i have 2 entire bitches, one is 5 and has had 2 litters, the other one is 4 this year and no pups cos she cant bear a dog to touch her (drama queen). i have booked the youngest in to be spayed in may and the other will follow once phantom goes completely. can anyone reasure me that i am doing the right thing??  i am worried about pain post op but mostly worried about spay incontinence and whether the dynamics of my pair will change once they are spayed and smell different? i have heard it can make them aggressive? they get on ok (but it took a long time) and i would hate this to change. can i have your experiences please?
thanks

Have noticed little or no change other than the natural subtle social changes when spaying my fully adult girls, at between 5 and 7 years of age.

Haven't noticed extra dominance when spayed, only for a short time after litters, when their social status has been elevated by motherhood, but a bit of firmness and they go back to the status quo.

I have had lots of bitches spayed at various ages and I have NEVER had one change in temprement even slightly, actually I will amend that as a couple of mine that could be a bit tetchy occasionally due to hormones actually settled down and became very sweet and even tempered.
I have never had one have spay incontinence but  have had one entire that got incontinent age 6yrs and I have a friend who has had two incontinent entire bitches.
I have lost one to pyo though, not nice so I always spay now.  I wouldn't worry you are doing the right thing especially if one of your girlies is suffering with phantom pregnancies.

in my opinion you are doing the right thing, its usually young under 6mnth bitches that get incontinence, i never had it in any of mine and neither did i have temperament changes( i had labs), to help with post op pain give arnica before and after it eally helps , they usually heal up really quickly just watch out for licking.
