Previous Next Up Topic Dog Boards / General / My dog is having a sleepover!!?? Help
By sarahwillard (**) [gb] Date 02.04.08 09:07 GMT
We are going away for the weekend and my brother is having my dog.  The dog has been to his house and is familiar with my brother and his family but I am wondering if there is any advice that you can give me to help settle the dog in?

I am really worried about her and although I will obviously take her crate and bedding and familiar toys I am worried that she will howl like she did when we first bought her home from her breeder!?

Any advice and tips greatly recieved as I would really like to be looking forward to my trip rather than being worried about the dog the whole time!!

Hi Sarah,
I know how you feel, I hate leaving my dogs when I am on holiday or going away for the weekend, lucky I have doggie friends that either stay at my house and look after my dogs or they go to my friends house!
You are doing the right thing in taking her bedding and toys things she is familiar with, I normally stay for a while and feed the dogs at my friends house before I leave them, but I do prefer to have someone stay at my house with the dogs.
I am sure she will be fine, and you will have nothing to worry about, she will love it!
Loving you Mika, my boy 12/04/99 - 17/05/07 xx
Will never forget you my darling boy xx

I left my twelve week old GR with my mum and dad for a night this weekend - I was worried he would keep them up all night ut he didn't make a muff.

I am sure she will be fine x

she'll get such a fussing she'll be knackered and fall straight asleep. don't worry!
you are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars, you have a right to be here

Like my sister said to me when I first left my pets for a weekend "they will be fine, they always are" and she was right :-)
