well they let their 2 cockers (mum and daughter) out for last minute pee in own garden and field as they do every night....next thing they know there was one back, and then gunshot and a yelp and then 2nd gunshot. They went straight out with torches but all they found was bloody grass and hair but no dog. It happened about 6 feet from their boundary in an arable field. The keeper was called and he helped them search all night but a car was heard straight after and the police drew a blank :-( Wont tell you what i would do to them if i found them....but all they want is to know where the body is so the boys can bury her and know shes safe at last....... They are better people than me!!!

It's terrible, but it could of been an accident. Dogs, guns and darkness just don't go I'm afraid.

OMG thats terrible, I do hope that she is found and I have my fingers crossed that she wasn't actually the animal that was shot ( trying to be positive !!) Perhaps they were shooting rabbits or something though and she just was terrified by the noise and ran. Surely someone wouldn't have intentionally shot her, I do hope not.

sam i'm really sorry, thats awful. i think what you don;t want to say is pretty much whats going through all of our heads... really hope they find her.

i'd be even more concerned about people shooting wildly near a house with children in it... i know sam said they were near a field so they might have been rabbit hunting etc but clearly these people knew a house was there and are not responsible with their guns, as either they are deplorable enough to deliberately shoot the dog or are stupid enough to do it by accident.

My thoughts too. A tragic accident but with folk that didnt have the guts to own up, or leave the dog if it was the dog that was shot. Not much can be done to trace them either if the car details are not known. Was it on their own land, or had the dogs wondered off onto another field? You have to be so careful at night when there are people shooting in the local fields.

My heart goes out to the family. So tragic.

So, so sorry for you friends.  I hope, as others have said that it wasn't the dog that was shot and she ran away in fright!

Oh my, so sorry to hear of this.  What kind of person would do such a thing?  It sends chills through my whole body.

let me put a few things straight. The people or person who was shooting was not doing so legally. the fields owner had given no permission to anyone to shoot on their land....so please dont turn this into an anti shooting thread as the people whose dog it is are great shooting people themselves. Whoever did this was acting in the height of iresponsibility and illegally.
