I have a litter of puppies 6 weeks old and I was wondering what they should eat. Right now I grind up their puppychow [eukanuba for small breeds] and mix it with a bit of rice and chicken and then moisten it. Sometimes they like it and sometimes they don't. They wont eat dry food. I started adding a bit of soy milk and milk and they love it but now their stool is grtting too loose. Has anuone any input on this situation. I am really trying to get them onto dry puppy chow.

I weaned my pups onto Iams, and other than the very greedy ones, they were never overly keen on it, to be honest. Their Mum has always beent he same with Iams, (Made by Euk) aswell, so I have now changed them.

To add variety for the pups once they were about 6 weeks old, I added a small amount of James Wellbeloved complete sachets. They also has a small amount of minced beef, cooked in water to make a 'gravy' sometimes and went absolutely mad for that. Oh, and they did have a small amount of tinned sardines in tomato sauce a couple of times, (discovered the sardines were the only way of getting Mum to eat her food while pregnant after a tip on here!) and that was their absolute favourite.

I didn't have any problems with upset tummies, and made sure whatever I added was in very small amounts, just enough to give a different smell/flavour.

Thank you for that reply. It does comfirm my fears. I too syarted on iams and I swore they just didnt like it. We switched and started putting a bit of boiled then shredded chicken. Now they eat and eat and eat. Doing very well now.

Hi
I feed my puppy's weetabix with milk, pedigree chum puppy and dried beta puppy food and scrambled egg. I think the more you vary their diet the less fussy they are.
