my siberian is walked on a flexilead to allow him a little bit of freedom
the trouble is they just dont last
the last 3 have all been the flexi giant which is supposed to be for giant dogs but even these dont seem to last
the catches just seem to give up so when i want the lead short it wont stay short
i dont wanna walk him on a long line as i think will be dangerous for me + my other dog
ang suggestions???

IMO a long line is nicer then a felxi if you use it correctly, however I'm sure some other sibe owners will be able to tell you what they use, if anything.

Oh no long lines get tangled, get muddy etc. much prefer a flexi, though the long line is better for training.

I'm so glad it isn't just me brainless, I never see other people saying they prefer the flexi!  I use one for Soli, and a longline is just unworkable with her - mud and tangles aside, she moves around so quickly (and randomly!) that I can't keep up with reeling it in and letting it out, so if another dog or interesting thing pops up she's off with the slack before I can stop her!
A goof, an eejit, a fruitloop and a maniac. LIfe wouldn't be the same without them :-)

After my brother nearly being strangled by a flexi when he was younger and a school friend having the back of both her legs, behind her knees sliced by a flexi I will never like them.  I've never had a problem with a long line and you can get them much longer then what you can get flexi's, they are much more comfortable to hold and you can real in a dog if need be :-)  Just my opinion though.  Many people must like Flexi's, they are big sellers and have been around for years! :-)

I'm sure my dog walker uses a flexi designed for a horse for one of the bigger dogs. might be worth browsing some equine sites for a heavy duty one.
ali - with a staffy not a chow, but very cheeky!
