cant be doing with all this poo. my dog is being feed on tesco complete range not the value crap. what food does not produce alot of poo!!

In my experience if you continue to feed your dog a complete food it will always c**p mountains!!!!   Feeding your dog on raw tripe or raw mince with terrier meal and the odd raw egg etc thrown in will result in a much healthier dog and about half the c**p to pick up Not only that there will be far less protein so your dog should be calmer and less likely to need scaped off the ceiling

And if you swap over to a complete BARF diet (ie no cereals so no biscuit) of meat, bones, veg etc, you will get even less poo.  And what does appear pretty much crumbles to nothing very quickly and doesn't stink.

My dogs are on a good quality complete and their motinons are firm and not copious, in fact abotu the same as when I fed raw and Veg.

Certainly motions are more numerous and not as firm on lower protein and higher grain foods.

On Royal Canin my dogs had copious amounts of poo,but as already mentioned on BARF they have very,very little and stools are solid and not wiffy at all.

My dogs are on CSJ and produce no more poo than when they were fed of a BARF diet. What they do produce is small non smelly and easy to pick up.

Just wondering what is CSJ?

BARF for me too, notice the difference when my bitches are put onto a complete puppy food from 6 weeks in whelp to supplement their barf diet.....more poo...less firm.....

I've never had problems with heaps of poo on a good quality complete either!

Just wondering which of the csj foods you use.  I'm going to change to csj soon and am a bit confused which one to go for.  My lot will eat anything. But can the food really be so cheap and so good as it seems??  I know I can get samples but mine will just eat everything!!

Just my honest opinion,but the Tesco range is what i would call value crap,so is csj.In these two instances you definitely DO get what you pay for

When it comes to food you get out what you put in. Feed a highly digestible,meat based,low to no grain/cereal food and your output will be much less.Feed a food with loads of indigestible fillers and there be no other recourse but for the dog to poop it out.

My rescue came to me on the same kind of food and he had what could only be described as huge piles of bright orange poo.I switched him to a much better quality food that my other dog is on and almost overnight they went to the correct size and consistancy.There are lots of places online that sell quality complete(zooplus,Arden grange,JWB etc) and also PAH sell JWB.Personaly I wouldn't feed my dogs any of the completes they sell in Tescos.

Naturediet and Nature's Harvest are both commercial complete wet foods that do not cause dogs to produce large amounts of poo, both can be purchased from Pets at Home or online.

For those that asked I feed mine CSJ champ or fit and fast .I tried them on the much more expensive CP21 salmon and only one of them liked it! My dogs all have beautiful shiny coats and are wonderfully fit and healthy, they also produce very little waste. It may be crap in some people's opinions but then so are alot of the much more expensive foods.  CSJ do a large range of food from cheap to expensive and they will send you samples to try, they will discuss your dogs requirements with you and will happily chat for ages. If you google CSJ you will find their website, we have a local stockist who delivers to our door when we need it. I go by the end result which is my dogs never having dodgy tums,  easily maintaining their ideal weight and always looking well.  They all compete in flyball and have plenty of energy for that but are never "hyper" at home. Feeding BARF can be as cheap or expensive as you want it to be.

So what's the theory behind the science diets then; so many people say they are full of indigestible fillers etc, etc and yet I know dogs on these diets with very little poo, solid and dry, the type you can pick up in a nappy bag and put in your pocket until you get to a bin as there is very little odour from it.  I'm not saying that it's like that with all dogs, just the few in my experience. I'm curious really....

Your dogs are like mine, and have never read the articles on the internet so they have no idea what effect these foods are supposed to have on their digestive system! Instead they thrive with healthy coats, small firm poos, no flatulence.

I think it's like the aeronautical theory that has proven without doubt that bumblebees can't fly ....

My dogs haven't read the articles either LOL

Like Doghouse I now feed CSJ (That'll Do!)  My dogs were on Burns but had stopped thriving   just weren't in good condition, far too thin, no muscle and very little energy.  Weren't always like like that, it was a gradual thing over the last year   So after the last sack ran out I put them onto CSJ and within weeks they were in great condition, good muscle development, more energy (but not hyper) and their coats are now beautiful.  Teeth are still clean and poos no bigger than on Burns    It's very much an individual thing tho as I know at least 2 dogs who are on Burns and look fantastic!

I've just ordered 2 bags of  'That'll Do'   Really nice and helpful on the phone.  I'm also trying out  'Billy No Mates' which is a herbal mix to help repel fleas and ticks.  With all the positive feedback on here, and csj website, I think it really is worth a try, it never hurts to save some money if poss!  Be able to spend more on toys and stuff!!

I just phoned and asked what they would recommend for CKCS and they have said CP21 so I'm off to compare the ingredients to James Well Beloved - out of interest...

My 2 dogs both eat tripe & biscuit at a 50:50 ratio, the old cross-breed has firm poops & the Mastiff has not so firm poops (formed, but easily squished - sorry if that too much info ). I think the individual dog's digestion has a lot of bearing as to what things come out like at the other end.
