Hi everyone
Does any one use shredded paper for bedding? I just bought some for outdoor kennels, its like tea bag paper long thin strips. The problem is my dogs seem to be eating it. Does any one know if it will do them any harm or does it just disintergate in their stomach?
Thanks Irene

I bought a load of this when we had our litter last summer....seemed ok but then I noticed that the pups were eating it and passing it in their poos, so needless to say I have rather a lot of unopened bales stacked in the garage.....

the stuff does not disintigrate as far as I know, and does not burn easily either - lol

(actually just took 2 bin-bags to the tip last weekend with puppy detritus in that had been languishing at the back of an outbuilding, that had been forgotten about, eeeuuw)

My local kennels uses shredded paper for the holidaying dogs and my springer comes back twice the size because she eats it - we say it must be quite strange for the love of her life (male springer)  as when they go to bed its all soft and when he wakes up he's probably on hard floor as Tilly has eaten all the bedding!!!!

Hi Irene,
Id be worried about intestinal blockage if they eat too much.
With paper thats like newspaper I'd be worried about it turning to paper mache and sticking to the roof of the mouth, then coming away in one lump and them choking on it. However if its a 'teabag' type paper this may not happen.
If your concerned then dont use it, better to be on the safe side!
