Hi my friend has recently bought 2 male Jack Russell terrier pups (brothers), he lives in an apartment in the city centre.  Personally I think it's a disaster waiting to happen.  His vet said they would be fine if they are both neutered at 6mth.  What do you all think?  Thanks :-)

Well, he's bought them already, so it will just have to be good luck. eek

It could be worse, at least it was not two bitches, is one male bigger or bolder than the other? Two pups together can be very hard work, I dare say he will have two uncontrolable lunatics running around his apartment, unless he is very dog knowledgable and good at training.

I would suggest that you give him this website address, get him to join up and over the coming 12-18 months we will all try really hard to help him out throughout the trials and tribulations of the pups growing up. I think he might need us. ;-)

P.S. I don't agree with neutering before a pup is fully grown, it will greatly depend on these two pups personalities, they may be ok entire and live happily together or maybe one could be done at 12-18 months or maybe both.  It's going to have to be a wait and see I'm afraid as to how they will get on.

Not had Jack Russells but I've got a Border and I know someone who had 2 male Borders (terriers) out of the same litter.  They got on OK until they were about a year old and then they just tried to tear each other apart.  Always fighting and just too much to handle.  They had to rehome one of them.  The one they kept is a feisty boy but they also have a female from another litter and the male and female get on great.  I think a lot of training will be needed to make sure the dogs know who's boss :-)

my boss got 2 cocker bitches together and lives in a flat and they are fine, so it can work out ok. i guess it depends on the dogs and the person raising them
