When out today walking in our local country park, my boy was attacked by a group of lurcher type dogs, we were literally just walking past as they were all off the lead one started barking then another two started snapping and lunging at him, they made contact with his ear, as he was trying to get away.........  but the owners did nothing!! as me and my Hubby were trying to get them off, no apology nothing!! i already have a fear aggressive dog who has been attacked on numerous occasions, I am so glad she wasn't with us!!
I am lucky my boy is very placid, we later met up with a fellow dog walker who's dog had been attacked by these dogs. I thinking about reporting it?
Do you think this is more of a problem now?  i really am fed up with it!!

Poor you, that's awful :-(
I think you'd be wise to report it, the owners obviously know thier dogs are likely to do this as they have done it before - thier dogs shouldn't have been loose, how irresponsible of them :-(
It was very lucky you didn't have your fear aggressive bitch with you, things like this would only make her worse.

Fingers crossed I haven't had this happen to my current dogs (so far, as soon as anybody sees the size of my pup they put thier dogs on lead). But I am really dreading this happen, I am sure it's only a matter of time, a neighbour had her Domerman attacked by another neighbors GSD only a week ago (she got bitten breaking it up) on the route I take my dogs :-(

Hi Mastifflover,

I think i will report it, just to be on the safe side :-(
My girl has come on loads with other dogs, so like you say it was a good job she wasn't there!!

When it happens it seems like for ever, it's shock! i couldn't talk to owners other then saying get your dog off mine!! boy i wish i had..........
I suppose we can only be responsible for own dogs........
I'll be grey soon!! LOL

Hayley

P.S your dog is lovely :-)

Hi Dexter,
Please do report it as a friends cavalier was attacked this week in local park and she was badly mauled and in fact died at the vets last night.
The owner is devastated, and while we let these uncaring owners get away with it they will continue.
This little dog was no match size wise for her attacker who was hell bent on doing serious harm and in fact bit its owner whilst he tried to get it to release said dog.
This little sweetheart has now lost her life and our friend his soul mate.
Rest in peace little one.

Jonelle

It is awful you seem to go into auto-pilot, I've just remembered my old dog getting attacked years ago, he was in my garden & another dog jummped the fence & latched onto his neck. I can't remember what I said, but I think the air was blue as I battled to prise the other dog off, and I remember shaking with adrenaline after - it's a horrible experience.

Jonelle - that's horrible about your friends dog, the poor thing.

Definitely report it, no-one should have to put up with this happening, for the owners to not take responsibility of their dogs is disgraceful. They would have had a real ear bashing from me I'm afraid.

OMG! thats awfull :-(  I only took my pup to the local park twice and luckily nothing bad happened BUT after reading stories like this one I only walk him in the fields now just so we dont meet dogs with bad owners!!  He has social time with my friends labs and the dogs at training class, we also meet a cavalier on the beach some mornings when he has a lovely play with her-I cant imagine how shocking it would be to see a dog mauled like that, poor little cavalier :-(

Report it.  This regularly happens to me no matter where I go.  My dog is on the lead, sometimes muzzled, other dogs run up to him, he reacts aggressively barking and snapping (why he's on the lead).  A fight breaks out.  The owners of the off lead dogs say to me "what do you expect with that dog of yours asking for it".  Of course their dogs are "under control", doing exactly what they like while the owners pathetically call for them and have no control over them whatsoever.  Just paid for more antibiotics for more bites on my dog from others.  Grrrrrr.

Definitely report. What if it had been a smaller breed of dog attacked like Jonelle's friends. Could well have ripped it to pieces. In reporting it you may well save someone elses dog.
The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue.

Id report it straight away, no hesitation.
If the dogs are menacing an area and attacking dogs, it could help to put up notices in the dog walking area warning other dog owners of the lurchers, more then likely they will see it as well and start taking more care of their dogs :-(

Have done it

Yes your right a smaller dog wouldn't have stood a chance! it's about time people started taking responsibility.

Thanks
Hayley
