I've just sent off 3 schedules for upcoming shows, one in Ardingley in May and a couple of others in June, and I can't wait! My pup is almost 6 months old now, and is a naughty little minx who has decided it's more fun to play than to stand stacked up but I don't care, we're going to have such fun, (I hope!). We go to our local club every month and have learned loads there, and her breeder is really supportive too.

There's a few things (I mean LOTS of things!) that I still don't know though, and if anyone has got a couple of minutes to explain, I'd be really grateful :-) I've tried to do so much learning but these are terms i hear often and I don't know what they mean! :-)

What's a ticket? What does that mean? And what is a CC? How do you get that and what does that mean too?

Thanks in advance!

hey good luck! ive got my first show at end of june, my boys nearly 5months and im like you, he doesnt stand for more than 2 seconds but oh well, we'll see how it goes!
im afraid i cant offer any advice, i dont know much at the moment either, seems a lot to learn! aaarrrghhhh!

Well this is not to diffficult to answer because a ticket is what you are given if you win a CC. A CC is awarded at championship shows where cc are on offer to the best dog and the best bitch. Now some times in a few breeds they only offer one cc instead of the usual 2 so in this case it goes to the best of breed.

Good luck and I am sure you will enjoy as you have the right attitude.

So a ticket IS a CC? Same thing? Thanks for your help Nova, much appreciated.

Brainless - brilliant link, thanks so much :-)  Looking at the list of showing terms on that site, I think perhaps I won't aim that high, not with me handling her anyway ;-) Good job we're only in it to have some fun and meet new people!

Good luck to you too Suz! It's been a wierd few months... on the one hand I've been wishing the time away waiting for her to be 6 months, and then all other times, I've given myself a good hard slap, as wishing away puppyhood is CRIMINAL! ;-)

Good luck,we have been showing for the past 10 months and have had great fun and have met some lovely people. Some people do take it REALLY seriously and we found our first Champ shows a little daunting at first but love it now.My 14 year old daughter now has the showing bug.I wouldn't mind but she keeps on beating me.LOL.

I think Ardingly was where I bought the first fleecy coat for my Cavalier, he got BOB at about 10.30 and it was a unGrouped show so about a 4 hour wait and it was FREEZING!!!!!!!!! Mind you I've just been to my worst ever venue, IOW Brickfields Horsecountry, a horse arena filled with wet sand, the water was oozing out when we put the crate down and we had to put plastic bags underneath as it was seeping up the sides, of course my hairy dogs all got filthy and stained with sand - never again, even if George was the only Yankee there and got his first (and last!) open show First and BOB!!! :-D

Thanks for all the messages :-)  We're going to Argingly on the 18th -  Sutton Dog Show Soc. We're starting at that particular show because her breeder is going with the pup she kept from that litter and it'll be great to catch up and also compare pups! :-)
