A girl yesterday was telling me about problems with her staffie. Her bf had just recently brought some camera eye-toy? well he set it up and it recorded their dog barking none stop for 45 minutes and in between the the barking it would dig at her leather settee... so her answer to stopping her dog barking -putting a muzzle on him so he can't bark !! I felt like snapping at her- what are you going to do about the settee and his digging? Tie his legs up next. I was scared she might take me literarily on my sarcasm.   I was so cross

The poor dog is destined to be another 'staffie statistic'

It was rather hard as we were both at a mutual friends house.
I kept looking at my friend shaking my head as if to say NO I'M NOT HEARING THIS ABUSE and she knew what I was thinking.
One thing the dog does which she couldn't understand...
He goes for a walk and then comes in and  and craps in her son's room
I suppose he's getting his own back...

It is hard in situations like that (being at mutual friend house), you can tell weather anything you have to say will be taken constructively or just end up in a row & then advice forgotten.

All those things the dog does (including the pooing) show that he is extremely stressed/anxious.  they need to deal with the root cause not the symptoms.
