We have purchased a magnetic dog collar for sadie our 8 year old dane who is getting stiff in her back legs.
Have tried giving her joint aid ,glucosimine tablets and liquid supplements and green lipped mussel extract but refuses to take them.
Have any of you used the magnetic collars and had any success.
The one we got is a MAGNACARE PRODUCT with 2 rare earth magnets and a copper strip enclosed as well.

Hi

I have a large cavalier with hip dysplasia and severe arthritis in his hips.  I do use a magnetic collar, but also cosequin and cartrophen injections and when the weather is really bad or he has had a lot of exercise he has rimadyl as well.  It is hard to know if the magnetic collar does a lot in amongst everything else but I wont risk going without now.  Maybe if you cant get your dog to take supplements then you could ask your vet about the cartrophen injections......

Geriatric Rott (nearly 13) has had a Bioflow collar for last 6-7 years, started using it for very early mild arthritis which has got progressivly worse and if it is taken off she is virtually immobile within 24hours.

I've tried a magnetic collar with two arthritic dogs - gave each a 2-month trial and neither time did it make a blind bit of difference. :-( It's always worth a try though - it might help and it certainly won't do any harm.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it

Hi,

I use a magnetic collar on my 5yr old Briard. He has many premature arthritic problems and I decided to try it.

I'm not convinced by it's benefits but he does seem to lie down easier (this is his particular problem) and he is also on Chondroitin and Glucosamine tabs plus oily fish 3/4 times a week and Hydrotherapy 4 times a month.
