I've just submitted a claim form to HMRC for working tax credit. Does anyone know how long it takes them to make decisions? Am i looking at weeks or months?

usually just weeks my son and daughter in law had theres sorted within 3 weeks
Oh good, thats a relief! Am keeping fingers crossed as need the money!

When they phone up to check on progress they where told 6 weeks at most but it turned up in 3 weeks, 6 weeks is the longest its supposed to take and should only take that long if there is a problem that they need to sort with you

When I rang them up with regard to working tax credit and child tax credit, they sorted it out there and then on the phone and I had a payment made within a week or so. I was amazed at how easy it was!

mine was sorted within the week i find it easier if you phone as you get it sorted straight away.

1st june 17st 9lb thats another 6lb gone total loss 25lb still coming off (12 weeks to my 40th b'day

faster if you phone, mine was sent middle of feb, and i have had my first payment, plus the backdated ones this week
Well after checking my bank statement i have recieved a payment from them - for £12.90! I haven't recieved any letter ffrom them telling my what i am going to get, and i have to say i thought it might be a little bit more. I'm presuming that is the weekly payment and they only paid for one week last month as i ticked the box asking to be paid monthly. I was sure the woman on hte phone said something like £28 a week, but maybe i misheard. Its not a great deal but better than nothing i suppose!
Is this about right amount wise?
Ring and ask them how much you will be getting, they will tell you.

I'm really cross with the tax credit, they sent us a cheque about a month ago saying we had been underpaid now they have informed me i've been over paid so they are making deductions on our payments my oh is only doing 30 hrs a week, its sad but i'm sure we would be better off if he was not working the system needs sorting out if you ask me too many mistakes

I had that Caroline, took 3 years to sort it, and then had to go to my MP.
they were paying through my wages in the job I had with the Department of work and pensions, WHILE doing MY OWN JOB 300 miles away :o :o
Each year they tried to claim over £500 back off me, when they had to send me a cheque for that much as I didnt have any tax credits for about 4 months!!!!
This was about 6 years ago, but they still cock up regularily

there is a good web site which will help you work out if they are paying you enough its used by the CAB to do there calculations and is usually pretty well correct you would be able to check and see if your entittled to more

the price of living has gone up so much, and its hard just to get by and pay the bills with out having them on your back too. I don't understand why they get you to fill in the renewly packs asking your income, they should know what income you have received you've been paying tax on it to them isn't it all on their computers? they gave my oh a tax rebate last year of £370 now they are claiming £345 of it back through his wages as they made a mistake! so between all the diffent systems they just seem to be screwing the avarage person who trys to work to pay their way, the council tax goes up, the cost of food and petrol and car tax and car insurance! sorry we are on the bread line as i'm sure alot of people are at the moment.
Panic over, got my letter today and the £12 was only a part payment. It will be £122 a month. yay!!
