I will cut a very long story short but in brief:-

Thursday - diarrhoea - did the usual starving etc
Friday - diarrhoea - bland diet etc
Sat - diarrhoea - mucus and bit of blood
Sun - vet

Through examination and palpation of abdomen, temp normal, gums fine, no dehydration.

Diagnosis - colitis - anti bacterial injection

Then.... straight from vet, dog passed what can only be described as a long slime - very pongy!

After that...... dog fine!

Anyway, do you think that the examination could have dislodged what was causing the problem i.e bacteria....??

I am just so grateful that he is ok now tho!

Would be inclined to think it was all coincidence. The large intestine will produce the mucus (slime) to protect the walls from what ever the irritant is (sometimes stomach acid) which is why once the stools start to form again after a bout of diarrhoea they are often in a jacket of mucus sometimes with streaks or flecks of fresh blood. So even when the gut has returned to normal there may still be mucus or slime passed before the whole apparatus returns to normal.

Do hope you  were not eating!
