Hello,

I am a Bully fanatic and am very keen to find out more about the breed - so far I have read copius amounts of books and we have attended shows.

I would love the opportunity to talk to and meet with a breeder so we can really get to know the breed and find out if it's suitable for us.

Is anyone a breeder or know of one, that would be happy to talk to me, with us etc?

Thanks

I would suggest that you contact your closest breed club (look under the Bull Terrier section for breed clubs) and ask if they can suggest anyone for you to contact.  I've always been available for people to contact for my own breed, they can just visit, get sat on by the dogs, and talk about the breed, perhaps go for a walk with the dogs :-)

Ahh must admit I have a bit of a thing for Bullies!  Saw one yesterday rolling about in some mud and had to stop and watch it.  If I had the room etc. for another breed I must admit these would be next on my list.
My dogs aren't my whole life, but my life wouldn't be whole without them. 05/01/08 11 stone 12 lbs

Hi
I've got a bull terrier called Ounsdale royal white but to us he's just "Snoopous the Poopous". I did want a tan bitch but ended up with a pure white boy ?? But he's my little love bug completely obsessed about EBT's now. I owned a Belgian Shepard before. I could not of gotten more of a different dog! They are rather a challenge!! .
Mine does what he's told= which is very rare, has taken a lot of food treats and  attention from 6 weeks onwards. Not a breed for the meek or fate hearted.
Good luck in your search.
If you want details of where I got snoop PM me..:-)

Thank you all for your replies.

The research I've done so far and dogs i've met would back up the statement about not doing what they're told, but our dog at the moment isn't the easiest, so we'll be used to that!!

what breed have you got already? just being nosey
.. tis good to know you have a dog already as lots of people get them... even before they've owned any type.
I could think of other breeds much more easier to have in your life than a bully!
My lad was not my choice but my ex bf brought him for me. wouldn't have any other now . Outstanding dog but suppose I would say that. :-)

We have a 5 yr old brown Dobe now, who we were a bit 'naive' when we purchased, so keen not to repeat this and do as much homework as possible.
I mean, we are talking a long time in the future.

My fiiance is also keen on Bulldogs, which am too, but wanted a BT since I was a young kid!

Had a Boxer previoulsy, and various others such as Springers as a boy.

If you have a Dobe now then a bull terrier would fit in, I tend to worry about bulldogs with getting over heated when out for walks. Where Dobermans are very athletic bulldogs are not so . It all depends on what your Dobe is male or female? I would recommend a bitch if you own a male now, so no male on male conflict could arise. My bully snoop is great with dogs that I introduce only. He loves any bitch though, right ladies man, but if he meets another male out walking or through a garden fence he becomes a git and wants to fight it. My friend has a white boxer Rodney who I introduced to snoop in my house when he was only 13 weeks old and have been great buddies playing & sleeping together as I have looked after Rodney lots of times when his owners have gone away. Its only now that Rodney is 18 months where him & my snoop get to having a go at each other- like today they both had hold of a stick and for the first time I my add had a good scuffle with each other, but as I kicked off at both of them instantly they both dropped the stick and looked at me like sue OK chill its your stick :-)

My thoughts exactly on Bulldogs, I do love them, but not energetic enough, although the calmness would be nice!

As I say, we are not looking short term and don't think we'll be looking to get a BT until Harvey (Dobe) has departed.

Just very keen to learn as much about the breed as I can, that's why I'm trying to get a head start.

Before I got snoop in my life had never had a male dog let alone a terrier. Before I had a Belgian Shepard bitch very different personality. As I got snoop at 6 weeks and he was my first puppy I had only had rescues before wanted to do it right . Booked him in a local dog training class. Mostly full of people who breed cocker spaniels and showed them they took an instant dislike to my boy because of his breed, My boyfriend at the time wanted to leave because of then snide comments of how thick and slow he was.. but I stayed just to show them that my dog is intelligent and they all ended up loving him in the end as he became a star pupil I may add put some of those cocker owners to shame!  :-)

Ive never had any problems with my mini bull and her behavior i believe ive been exceptionally lucky with her as we've had no problems with her not listening or refusing to do as shes told
where as i have a Pug girl also who was a little nightmare!

Training never ends and perseverance is the key, im totally swayed by the EBT'S definitely biased! Was it a mini or standerd you were wanting dont know if you received my PM?
