i fell in love with the ginger tom cat up the road he follows the dogs for walk.
we lost our british blue in oct 17 years old a female she was ok but didnt like cuddles.didnt go out side.
someone told male cat are more loving than female,
i know i love my male dogs  for the same reason

i think male cats are more loving as well ( probably get slated for that) but in personal experience and also in work ( in vets) boys seem more loving, especially tabbies and gingers! love them!

Awh bless him, I love Ginger cats LOL that's why I have two semi long coated White & Blue & Black, White & Blue cats !! i wanted a ginger but these two needed a home. My Reg is a lot more loving that his sister, but having said thet they both like to be cuddled & sit on my lap a lot, it's that Reg goes a bit OTT with the purring & nose touching with his paw !

I can second that about male cats.  We had 3 cats up until recently when we lost our lovely long haired boy Tigger.  He was a darling.  Loved the dogs, right down to cleaning them.  The girls are just not so cuddly.  As for the dogs, both our males and females are equally as loving, so can't really comment on that.

I have had 2 female and 1 tom cat. The tabby tom was the sweetest , most cuddly cat ever ! When Mum's dog came to visit the tom would sit on the floor in front of the dog's bed and stare at her until the dog got out , then the cat would jump into the nice warm dog bed and go to sleep . The poor dog had to sleep on the floor !
He broke my heart when he went out for a walk and didn't come back .

All my male cats have been much more friendly and cuddly than any of the females, (the last one Jessica was never very nice to me lol She was one week off 21 years when she died). Miss seeing her patrolling the garden and keeping the dogs in order. Keep thinking I might get another cat but it will definately be a male one this time.

My toms are definately more affectionate that my girls...much more fun loving too

there's something about a marmalade My mum and dad adopted a marmalade when they lived in Hull, his owners abandoned him to live outside, and as there are cat lovers (had 2 Abyssinians then) they took him in, his name was Whisky and he lived with them for about 8 months, they took him to the vets for a check up and unfortunately found he had a tumour, so they cared for him until it became too difficult for him and then they made the difficult decision to PTS

but I like to think his last few months were happy in front of a warm fire with regular meals and knees to sit on (even if he did "fluff"* a lot!!)

* fluff - euphomism for fart in our family

My beautiful female cat Lucy went to the bridge last year she was loving however I now have a ginger tom he is wonderful very sweet and kind he adores my labs and gets a full wash of them everyday tom kitten is now 7months old and just had him neutured,no problems back to normal next day,he is very friendly with next doors tom dont think he's to keen on the ladies lol,i love him to bits.

Ive always found our male cats more affectionate than the females. The females get better with age but males are my preference.
HAve always had dogs as opposed to bitches so cant comment on that one

hmph, at this moment in time I'm not sure our male cat is that loving, although he's reappeared this evening after a week of worry (well 6 days as I discovered his whereabouts yesterday!)  Both my female cats are very loving.  I have a British Bi colour too Briedog, she's 6 & doesn't go outside, wary of strangers but once she knows you she's always poking her way onto the sofa for cuddles (on her terms though).  The black moggy loves everyone, is a real floozy (bit like a dog I know!)

Briedog - The kittens were all taken apparently even though there was a ginger tom - sorry the rest of you, my neighbours have been feeding one of my cats (without my knowledge) & they thought he was the father of their kittens (he was neutered 9 years ago).  I had to break the news to them that their sibling kittens had reproduced

I have one male cat and one female cat from the same litter. As kittens and young cats he was much more cuddly - once you'd caught him! But in their twilight years my female cat just seems to get soppier and dafter every day. She behaves like a kitten again and is always up for some attention. She's even happy to be wrapped in a blanket and carried round like a baby by my daughter. She doesn't go far since getting lost for 6 weeks. My male cat still likes his cuddles but as soon as he's had enough he's off!

My favourite cat was my ginger tom, he was so protective of me when someone came to the door he used to growl just like a dog.   He used to chase balls and retrieve aswell, he was always at my side the love was mutual. The only other cat that came close to the way he was with me was a tabby male.  My females were always aloof and my Maine Coon never came anywhere near as close as those two cats funnily enough.

Can't say I've noticed a difference between the boys and the girls.  Some have been very affectionate and some have not.  With the exception of the two male kittens who fell in love with our dog.    They liked us till they found the dog was much more fun to play with.  She let them bite, wrestle and play roughly, things we would not do.  Our female, creatively named Ginger, is a crabby old thing but seems to be mellowing in her old age.
